Oh how this filled me with joy hearing about Herself. Let me lead by saying the Five Week Brigid course on the Irish Pagan School is an amazing thing and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a practical peak into authentic practices with Her. It really supported me on my journey. SO INTERESTING about the flame keeping. Kind of validates how I’ve been feeling less connected to flame tending as I’ve been feeling more connected to Brigid over the past year. She told me to go to herbal school and now my devotion is studying very relatable to This conversation.

I’ve been having a similar revelation the last couple of months. I’ve been looking for the Divine Feminine for about 20 freaking years now, after being raised Catholic. I’ve been learning more about my Irish heritage in the last two years. Something about witchcraft pinged with me earlier this year. I wasn’t looking for a way for all these things to merge, and then I read something about the three aspects of Brigid: the smith (crafting/making), healing, and poetry. I’ve been a musician my entire life, and really leaned into the maker space for a couple years. Orlagh talking about engineering mirrors my experience as an IT professional. It’s not so much that I “found” Brigid, or Her finding me, as much as a “oh, THAT’s who you are!” moment. She just clicked in my head, natural as breathing. Thinking about Her daily is no work at all, it just IS. And it’s amazing.

So much interesting information, thank you both!!! As a devotee to Brigid and a flame tender.... I always appreciate others academic and spiritual insights, especially from the natives...lol I'm in the states, german born with Irish grandparents on my father's side, Roscommon and Mayo!!! My reason for tending Brigid's flame is for focus and reverence!! I've been practicing Celtic inspired paganism for over 41 years, I'm not Wiccan. But more folklore, agriculturally based. So as a flame keeper, for my personal devotion I would just say that it can be more than just an introduction to starting a relationship with Brigid. I also find that it deepend my relationship with her on various levels. Of course this works for me, and may not work for others. Again I would never want to say this or that are the only way. And I'm always appreciative of any and all insights especially from you ladies, thank you. Just my two cents worth.... brightest blessings to you both. Ju

It seems we have opposite reasons for flamekeeping. Born and raised in the States I didn't grow up with Brigid and I find being part of a Cil connects me to Her community. My personal devotion is daily. My work with her is through my job and my hobbies. Flamekeeping every 19 days makes me feel like I have a "church"

I always come back to watch this -1x each year--i am fortunate enough to have a well and the pump house is in my basement. I tend to it in a more modern sense, with salts etc, but the cob webs and bits of debris need to be paid attention to. I tend her flame by have 2 5 day candles in lanterns on my porch-and it is an effort with the Spirit Of Brighid and I together daily - and the making of dolls and the weaving of the rushes and just to keep her in my own spirit. As a Solitary Witch, there is only the ME and THEE in the devotional. So the Days of Imbolc are nigh so the blessings of the season to you Lora. I live in the US--and have done these practices for 15yrs - thereabouts.

XD I remember I was just going about my day, can't remember what I was doing exactly, when she asked," have you ever thought about trying blacksmithing?" Granted, the answer to anything that involves creating things is a yes from me, so now I'm looking at local places where I can give it a shot.

Thank you for this. My birthday is around the time of Brighid’s Feast. I felt such a connection to her when visiting County Clare in early 2000. Coming to Ireland felt like coming home. It sort of was with heritage from County Antrim and County Kerry. As an artist, and a handcrafter, I feel like that is an acknowledgement of Brighid.

Thank you so much Lora and Orlagh for this amazing video! I've recently starting deepening my relationship and practice with Brigid and searching for a song for her I came across your video :) I've now joined Orlagh's FB and started following her blog. It'w wonderful to hear how my approach to working with deities is very similar to yours which is involving them in my daily life. I work in in-home care and offering my work as devotion to Brigid is one of the first ways I started deepening my relationship with her. While watching this video my husband and I became inspired and we've signed up with a local volunteer organization! Thank you so much :)

Thank you so much for this video Lora and Orlagh. I am still learning about Bridget, and this video was no exception. I never connected my fostering kittens and puppies for our local rescues and shelters as something I could do as part of a devotional to her. I had connected it to her Dad. Would that work, or would it be a better fit with Bridget? Oh, and I now have a foster son too (he's 16). I do know that fostering is a big part of the Irish tradition. Right now I am reading, learning, taking classes from the IPS and Bridget's Forge (both I highly recommend!), plus the Ogham Academy. I don't work for or with any particular Irish God or Goddess yet, so I'm just honoring the "Irish Gods" and my ancestors, while changing my practice from Wicca to Irish paganism. There is a lot of talk about flame keeping in groups on FB, so it was good to hear about it from the two of you. For me, I'll light a candle for Bridget, but I feel drawn to do more practical and useful things. (I mean absolutely no disrespect to those who do flame keep. Only that it's not for me, at this time).

This video is so rich in ways to deepen and expand one's relationship with Deity. Thank you again! I just adore Brighid, and as I continue to learn about Her one of my little daily devotions is speaking with my mother, but in that I am lucky as I have a great one. I for sure will be looking into this class in February. I am taking the free Ogham class offered on your school's website and it is wonderful.

So you need to take care of a flame for 19 days, people told me to just light a candle on the 19th day of the month... I'm confused @--@ I discovered (about 6 months), throught a ritual, that Brigid is my mother goddess and I'm trying to learn more about her cuz I don't know a lot, anything that could point me on the right direction I'm accepting haha thanks for the video, it was really informative!

I am new to druidry, and Brigit is my main goddess. I am a Celtic poet, and I have long called on Taliessn for inspiration. I know now that Brigit is the poet’s muse. Is there something I can do to enhance this relationship?. I don’t use the old meters. I write in a style like I said which is influenced by Taliessin the Welsh bard of old. I have been having some interesting experiences, to say the least. Love your videos. Rena

So, I understand that Brigid is the goddess of smithcraft, but I know as well there is the smith god Goibniu. So, what is the logic there, if there is any logic at all? Is Brigid the deity of smiths, and Goibniu is just a deity who is a smith? Would it be that Goibniu was worshiped in a different area of the country and recognized as the primary smithing deity and Brigid in another province? Could it be that Brigid is Goibniu's mother along with his brothers? I know the concept of the Tri Dee Dana is a little convoluted as to who they were, and in some sourced Brigid is listed as the mother of Brian, Iuchar, and Iucharba, who are sometimes refereed to as the Tri Dee Dana. Or am I seeing connections where there are none, and there just happens to be two smithing gods because there just are?

Just a quick correction, Henry VIII had children out of wedlock before Anne Bolyne. Including Henry Fitzroy from a Bess..(I forget) and allegedly two children with Mary Bolyne, Annes sister. Anne simply refused to be Henrys mistress, but he had such a passion for her he was willing to go as far as starting the Church of England to be able to divorce Catherine and marry Anne. Also, Annes demise was political and not about any true adultry😢
