In the end I got used to Brilliance Ai: it's a great tool as a starting point.Thanks Scott

Thanks for this Scott. You have saved me a bunch of time as I would have stumbled across these variations of approach across many images in a lot more time!l. Clear and systematic videos from you.

very good video Scott, thank you. When On1 2024 first came out with BAI and pushed it as a one-click solution I was not happy. But as I worked with it I saw all the control you have with it IF you open up the modules. So now my pet peeve is wanting a release where I have the option to have all the choices in a module open up when I click the module rather than having to hit each one separately. At least with 2024.1, they gave us a way to fix the properties window!

Hmm… I’m not sure if turning off Solo Mode will auto-open every panel in a module. As for the sections within a specific panel (filter, local, etc) ON1 should remember the ones you expand/collapse, though you’d have to open them up initially.

Thanks, Dave. I was wondering what these amount sliders actually do, now I understand the mechaism behind. Very helpful.

Does on1 have any videos on editing out coloured light? For shooting bands and indoor events that usually give harsh red face
@ScottDavenport11 ай бұрын
Might try a look around wrt the ON1 Color Balance filter.

Good Evening Scott, I have learned a lot from your videos but I do have a question. I can't recall which video it was but I think I noticed in the camera profile section you had some profiles there specific to a Nikon camera. Are those any good and if so where would I find them to import? Thanks so much, Jerry
@ScottDavenport11 ай бұрын
Hi Jerry... I'm guessing you're referring to the Camera Profile in the Tone & Color area. There are a set of ON1 profiles and a set matching the vendor of your camera body. The camera-specific ones can be good... it's ultimately subjective and worth deciding for yourself.

Very interesting. I have an unrelated question - what is the difference between "Structure" in the Tone and color menu and the Dynamic Contrast" effect filter? And how do these compare to Luminar Neo "Structure"? Thanks,
@ScottDavenport11 ай бұрын
Both Structure and Dynamic Contrast amplify details by increasing micro-contrast. Structure in Develop targets small details. Dynamic Contrast is similar, but has individual adjustment controls for small, medium, and large details.

Thanks Scott, very helpful. Would you recommend using Brilliance AI after making RAW adjustments in LR?
@ScottDavenport Жыл бұрын
Hi James ... that wouldn't be my first choice in workflow. Brilliance AI addresses the basic tonal and color adjustments for the photo and get it prepped for styling in Effects. For an LR->ON1 workflow, you're doing your basic adjustments in LR. You can certainly run Brilliance AI, maybe to get the local adjustments if you're only doing globals in LR. Though you may need to temper the Tone sliders in Brilliance in case it tries to over-correct and already-corrected photo.

Noticed that you have both Brilliance AI and Tone and Color open (extended) at the same time. Is that an option, once I open one, the other minimizes... Nevermind. It isn't in preferences, it's in the Window menu. Thanks.

Right. Solo Mode … I use that most often, though for some videos it helps to turn it off. Have fun!

Many thanks for your brilliant videos on On1, including this one. I have one issue with Brilliance AI and a question for you: I have observed that the regional masks, e.g. for sky, animal, flora, water, are oftentimes much less accurate than when you specifically mask these regions with super select ai in local adjustments or effects. For that reason, I oftentimes have to delete the mask created by Brilliance AI and create a new one as a starting point for refinement. I suspect that On1 creates less accurate masks with Brilliance AI in order to increase the speed of Brilliance AI. Can you confirm this and to you have any thoughts on the quality of the masks created by Brilliance AI?
@ScottDavenport11 ай бұрын
I haven't expressly compared the Brilliance AI masks to others. I have noticed that SuperSelect will find regions that don't directly map to a Mask AI region. After that, I treat all the AI-created masks as good starting points that generally need a bit of refinement.
@EdwardBartel11 ай бұрын
The main problem i have with Brilliance AI is that I can't seem to adjust the mask in this function. Sliders work fine, but I can't seem to refine the mask.
@EdwardBartel11 ай бұрын
Specifically, in the subject aware sections of Brilliance AI.
@ScottDavenport11 ай бұрын
You're correct... you can't change the masks made by Brilliance directly in Brilliance. You need to switch the Locals tab to refine the masks for the subject-aware selections. (And yes, I would like the AI to get better with region selections, too.)

Thanks. I'm not a fan of AI. I make adjustments to my personal preference.

I am an On1 fan since its beginning with the first Photo Suite and now I am working with On1 Photo Raw 2023. However I find Brilliance AI does absolutely nothing for skilled users that know how to do proper tone and color adjustments in the first place. Sure it is impressive for beginners, if you like one button solutions, but it for myself is not worth the upgrade from the 2023 version.

Like your videos, but this one could have been cut down to 3 minutes and conveyed the same information. Too much padding.
