Brotha Brim I was at that party too and if you recall, whoever Lil Country shot that night, that guy had been giving his Cousin from Alvalon Gardens some problems and Lil Country always had his family back first. Lil Country got shot on 69th between Raymond & Budlong. I went by there in 2011, the blood can no longer be seen and it was only 2 people still living in that neighborhood that remember the shooting.

@@darrylford3192 nutting happened to Eddie Watts, except he grew up became responsible (he went into the service) took care his family got sick and later passed away. Many of those Day one Brims from 67-68, did what lot of others did with the drug scene, went to prison, but many of them grew up, many weren't so blessed, they thought living the life would pay off. Many found out that life did pay off but in different ways. 🥺

OG Prettyboy from Rollin Sixty Crip. It was good seeing his interview. I was a kid when he and his homies use to have girls in the pink apartments in a Blood neighbor. Things were cool for a minute then they started shooting at each other. But as a kid we would go to the pink apt and talk with Prettyboy, Babyface and Cyco. I was telling them I was moving to 79 and Hoover. Pboy told me I was going to be a Lil 8 tray. We use to play football in the streets and pboy came down our street in his 64. An the shooting began. It was crazy but fun back then. Gangs only missed with the other gangs they left the kids alone. So it is really good to see Prettyboy.

Ac's story sounds more plausible, likely and reliable based on old heads in my family from both the hub and LA which coincides more so with ac. Blk ppl from the south who came to cali used the term " young blood" a lot to. My 84yr old grdma who came from louisiana to the aliso village projects in the 60s even uses that term. So, even that term was tossed around along with "cuhz". The brims, ru's, athens boys etc definately needed a unifying moniker/umbrella term and " bloods" was it. Also, what ac talks about corroborates some of the mad swans talk. Elgin isnt wrong but he was using too much heresay. Also, i believe inglewood has a large role in the blood movement, some in my family who were " eastsiders" definately talked about bumpin heads with niggaz from inglewood

@Kev Mac. I hard him mention Eddie Watts going in the service I also heard Tyrone Tate mention his time in service. It is widely reported that in the 60's young first offenders would have their charges dropped if they enlisted. With the term Bloods being widely recognized and used by Vietnam Vets and the timing being that many young men who took the military option would have been hitting the streets in the early to mid 70's. I think it is worth researching how many of the early bangers, could have been guys who had service time and PTSD. While many OG's can remember scrappin, it seems that how or why gunplay exploded is cloudy. It can be easy to see a hardened vet with personal ties to an area being down to put in work. It would also be too easy for police to do lazy police work and write a lot of that off as "gang-related" and the media would just report it the same and glamorize it, with no real effort ever being put into seeing what was going on with the individual, they never looked past the blue or red rags. Just a very real thought from a guy in Texas who loves these vids and have a real heart for the truth because so many of my friends wasted their lives running the streets behind colors they really know nothing about. I still remember watching Jamie Foxx play Tookie and smokin a blunt and wondering to myself, "How the fuck did me and so many of my friends get caught up in Crippin?" I know the real on how it came here via transplants who came here to lay low with family. The Grape St. Set here was supposedly heavily connected to LA in the 80's, but I can't speak on them too much. all I know is, I hope everyone can listen to these guys and that this stuff can be a chapter in history. Thank you for putting their voices out their so it can be heard from the source, not the media that only wants to profit off of others pain.

Crack era was definitely how the guns exploded. Especially since Russia was killing the black market at that time before the ussr fell. And the early bangers would be part of the cliques Melvin Farmer was talking about. And when they turned 18 they’d quit the gang life. The 2nd gen crips is who changed that and they would’ve been kids during Vietnam

You showing the newspaper clippings bring back memories, Mr Kev-Mac. From 71-74, I used to keep a lot of these in my Brim Book. I tried to find out how I could get newspapers from that time area through the LA Sentinel & Times. LIL Kountry being shot made the papers too, in both. Now it's been so long ago: I had clipping, when Richard McFarland & Ronnie Williams was both shot to death on Kansas & 65th thereabouts a crip was supposed to have shot them and since it was only 3 witnesses and 2 were dead??????? When David Johnson from Manuel Arts Brims was shot in the side and bullet came out in chest (or it could have been visa versa) He was one of the few Brims that had a car and they were riding in the 70's neighborhood maybe also near Manchester cause he was taken to Morningside Hospital (that's where they first took Lil Country when he was shot) but David died after he was shot. David family lived off of Normandie & MLK. BRIMS used to hang out on 36th & Normandie @ Teaspoon & Tomahawk place. I called them Manuel Art Brims. Kool Breezes aka Louis Lovely was killed in arm robbery of a gas station and his homeboy another OOG is doing life in Quentin to this day. Punkin aka Nathan Hollinger died in a commission of a robbery and it was said while guard was shooting at Punkin, his homeboy RatKilla, came in and started shooting at the guard, while Punkin was in between them, some bullets struck him from his homeboy side, killing him. This something that came from l of my Close Sista Brim who contacted me after it happened because Punkin was like a brother to me. I didn't make it to his funeral. Punkin, whenever he was out, was nuttin to play with either. My homegirl & few other Brims buried Peewee, Punkin 's nephew after I left LA again in 2014. Peewee was a Brim too.

We would go to his parents house but now I wouldn't be able to find it. I know the after funeral service was at his home and most Brims was there. We went to his funeral too but that appears to be blocked in my mind, so I'm not for sure if it was at Crenshaw Funeral home; Angelus Mortuary. Your years are correct because by 77 of Feb, I was in Texas & 75, I was in San Diego.

With all due respect, Elgin doesn't have the Crip origin correct. The story about the press misspelling the name Crib isn't where the name came from. That story, along with Crip being an acronym, Community Resources in Progress are both urban myths created by individuals who want to rewrite history.

I hadn't realized until now, how close the young guy who was kicked to death and Lil Country's was. Lil Country got shot in May on the 29th of , "72." I also remembered, that in between these 2 incidents, that a older white man was also hurt/killed in Hollywood coming out of a Bob's Big Boy Eatery. I want to say, that's when I heard of Crib's. iI guess if the news paper article could be found, it may state that the preps looked like lil kids r something to that effect.

@Kush Man we're not sure because both died three months apart. Ballou went to LA High, and I'm not sure about how he knew Country. If you listen you will see everybody stories contradicts the other. We still cant get a answer to who started the Bloods and thats because several "anti crip" gangs started calling each other Bloods. Not just Brims Not just Pirus....... 20s, 20s oulaws, Brims, Denver Lanes, Anthens parks, Bps, Bishops, Pirus, Bounty Hunters and the Inglewood Families to name a few been around far back as the 1960 or even further. Some of their names changed and some stayed the same but the same turf/Hood. And if you really pay attention to detail. None of these OGs could be every where at the same time so they are going off of here say. I can barely remember what happen 10-15 years ago and here we talking about 40+ yrs ago. The crips had the word cuzz that they would call each other. Young blood was a word tooken from the older cats that was eventually established to be what Bloods called each other.

Im trying to make sense of the origin of cribs and bloods. Elgin said he ran with Raymond but in his part 1 video he only kicked it with Raymond and Bulldog at school on nutrition time. Never after school because he ran with the brims. How did he run with the original cribs when they chased him down at school? Then when Elgin and the brims fought Raymond and the cribs on lunch time at the football field they were already bald. He wasn't there but AC Babalouie gave us full details of when they went bald.. AC was there with the AFTER SCHOOL activities with the cribs. Like we all know we be with our REAL homies after hours. People we socialize with at school are just cool not necessarily the homies. Also, Elgin claim blood started in 72 but Jimmy Lavender said when he quit bangin in 74 there were no bloods. How did Elgin come up with blood and with who?

Big Uce This why i wish tookie and Raymond was still alive. Some people say tookie wasn't around at the park when they started crips and some say he was but only Raymond would know that, and that sucks! It seem like you'll never know the real story cause the real ones dead and gone..

Big Uce Elgin from the East Side and probably was a Crip himself before moving to the West Side......He probably ran with Raymond and Bulldog in Jr High or even elementary.....He told them to ignore his Apple Hat Homies that was clowning them......The Apple Hats started the beef with the Crips.....Raymond and Bulldog just responded......Similar to the way they reacted to Richard Miles and his crew......The Crips weren’t the aggressors in their first two beefs......Actually many Crips were clowned for they bald heads.....It kind of kills the theory of the Crips being the bullies all the time......

@@harrywilliams9318, your possibly correct. I think it was 74 or early 75 because I remembered hearing the shots while riding the Vermont Bus #6 home. The day I cut my wrist and Swig picked me up from County General Hospital. I usually would go back to see what was going on (I just stopped doing this 20 years ago 😞) but that day, I was in a suicidal depression. My twin had to call the ambulance for me.

IN THE BEGINNING WE WAS ALL INDEPENDENT OF EACH OTHER BUT WHEN THE CRIPS BECAME A PROBLEM THROUGHTOUT THE STREETS OF LA THEN COMPTON WATTS AND INGELWOOD IT ONLY MADE SENSE FOR THOSE HOODS TO COME TOGETHER AND FIGHT A COMMON ENEMY.SO CERTAIN PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT SETS STARTED TO HAVE HOOD MEETINGS WITH OTHER HOODS WHO DIDNT LIKE THE CRIPS AND PLUS SEVERAL PEOPLE HAD DIED AT THE HANDS OF THE CRIPS.AND IT MADE EVEN MORE SENSE FOR THEM TO BAND TOGETHER IN JAIL BECAUSE THE CRIPS WERE TO DEEP.SO EVERYBODY CAME TO THE UNDERSTANDING THAT WE WILL FIGHT THE CRIPS AS ONE AS ONE FAMILY ONE BLOOD

No, this guy and AC are homies. You guys are turning this to a Blood vs Blood debate. LA County was big in the 70's like today. The Piru/Bloods OG's are homies. AC and his crew were not worrying about what Elgin's crew does.

Elgin was right on everything except for the beginning of the interview because he didn't gave us more details on that claim. Raymond made Tookie a Crib because Big Took was locked up for a year and a half during the time Raymond formed his gang. This war is still going out due to this guy starting shit at Fremont High with Raymond and Bulldog. Elgin might not know deeply about AC's story in '73-'74 because his lil homie was locked up.
