It’s all love. I grew up in Gardena so not to far from your section and I remember taking my son to daycare on 111th and Crenshaw across from the cleaners. Although I never seen any action, I always heard that the area was real active and I can remember hearing about a few bodies getting dropped over in that area. Brolly hut was always known as a death trap and this was 13/14 yrs ago

true even Mexican gangs.. Im from the 818 and a lot of Mexicans gangs beef it wit each other.. My uncle r.i.p came to the valley from El Salvador during the late 60's early 70s .. He told me the only gangs in the valley during this time was San Fernando, Pacoima, Van Nuys , and Canoga park and the only black gang around was the pierce street boys in Pacoima they shared the gardens with Pacoima...

I’ve watched all four parts at least three times each. I agree with the Batman and Robin analogy. The dynamic nature of the conversation imparted a natural overall feel. I enjoyed the anecdotes, especially OOOG Tako’s comical ones. @kev mac, can we get OOOGs Tako and Spaghetti on the podcast? Is it possible to do a segment with the OOOG/OOG homegirls? @james johnson OOG Big B-Brat, much love for making this interview happen. Another great video #kevmac. What's amazing is that, time has been spent in these areas (50 years) fighting one another or working in corporate offices, and the white man can bring in a few dollars and displace each and every person? I watched this in Pasadena, CA with Kings Manor. I have been watching it over the last few years in Jordan Downs, Baldwin Hills, Los Angeles in general. Where these neighborhood were places no one could walk. Now, I see white folks and Asian folks with their pets strolling through. I experienced this in the corporate world. Gentrification should send a message to ALL OF US that this is all a real life setup; we will waste our time busy about nothing. 40-50 years of waste that only benefits one culture, one system. We aren't mad about this yet? All the vigor wasted guarding something or working for something you don't own and can't own. Los Angeles for the most part is a gold mine; the LAND. They'll use white flight to bring your asses in to live in projects, and rent someone's house, paying the mortgage until the value goes back up, then move your ass to Riverside or Palmdale when the time is right. You keep your hand out to them whether through welfare, or some other form of "entitlement" while the group/set/click/homies, etc can't help you get on your feet, whether in the pen or not. This is sad, but I'm glad your bring the story - at least a brother should benefit from telling the story versus the next white producer. I'm hoping it doesn't take the next generation 40 years to figure out their true enemy.

What's sad is a Black man would possibly get pressed in some of the areas mentioned. Yet white boys walking around with above the knee shorts on, flip flops and a small dog with no problem. I see it in Inglewood NHP hood, seen it in the J's straight accent having European mofos and all. Makes me shake my head sometime.

He ain't lying Morning Side was an all blood school at the time. If you was a crip you had big balls to go to that school and stay there. Only crip I knew that went and stayed there was from Tongan Crip Gang. He stayed there and fought everyday but stayed and graduated there. He was the same kid who fought this big guy years later at this school. No one wanted to be his friend cuz he was a crip so he was a loner there. He went to school blued up khaki with blue chucks and long blue bandana everyday but he was hitta. These O.G.'s was telling the truth when they said the problem with Tongans is they don't know their boundaries they would go all over like they owned it. Go ask Lennox they shoot back & forth with Tongans but instead of Tongans leaving the Tongans moved into Lennox. It became neighbors shooting at neighbors like literally you'll be shooting it out with the house that's across the streets from you. The Tongans don't know their boundary.

@@cityfunk8244 If he went to Morningside in 85/86, his name was Tao. Dude was straight crippin and everybody knew where he was from. He was one of a few Crips that did go to Morningside back in the day. To say no Crips went to the side back then was not true. A few did get smashed, though. But Tao and this other dude from Hoover (Greg) held their own. I think Tao got shot maybe a year later or so. But the Tao I knew was a straight up good dude. I agree with the last part of the vid where they talking about if you get to know some of those you beefin with, maybe things would be a little different.

WILD THINGS That's the beauty of surviving that lifestyle we lived. To mature, be alive and free, and have that luxury to reflect upon the ignorance we perpetrated as youngsters, and laugh at it. So many will never know, that they will not have that enmity later in life for that Black Man across the street or a few miles away. Then there are those who have become enlightened, but it's too late because they are stretched out. Now they are behind enemy lines going back to back with that same Brother they once hated.

I'd have to disagree. In 1977-78, and maybe 1979, Fremont had the baddest band in the land. We were like the second coming of Earth, Wind, & Fire. Reggie Andrew's held it down at Fremont, until he transferred to Locke High around 1979-80. After that, Locke was the one. In CIF track, ran by Coach Gatlin, it was always Fremont, and then Jefferson High, for like 10 years, from around 1969. Now Morningside was the one in basketball. They had Byron Scott on the boys side, and then they had Lisa Leslie on the girls side🎷🎺🏃🏀💯☝
