I know this is way too late but for future reference...Where you are at the start looking at mt coree you have about 4 or 5 official camps within about 2 klms as the crow flys. There's also a couple of sneaky little unofficial camp sites without views. Just gotta be a bit stealth. There's also some very challenging tracks around there. Just need a local to give you the locations. The brindies are my back yard. There's a higher mt, Mt ginini just near you too. About 1800 mtrs. 2wd access but epic views.

Cheers mate. Brindabella is a good place and worth going to for a couple of nights but the High Country is definitely a better place for 4x4ing/camping/adventure
