That oreo scene was executed soooo poorly 😂 There's definitely some good points of discussion though. As an Asian, I used to be called a Twinkie because of how I acted and it made me question my identity and my relationship with my ethnicity. It sucks being called a Twinkie (or an Oreo) because its complete disregard to your experiences as an Asian (or Black person) and that's super problematic. As a minority, I want to be recognized fully as a minority. How I act, talk, or dress should not define my race, and I think that's what this scene is *trying* to say. However her saying "I'm a black girl who enunciates" is so problematic because it implies that black people usually don't enunciate, supporting the stereotypes against African Americans and Black culture. Instead she should have said "I enunciate. That doesn't make me any less Black" or something like that.

on "i'm just the black girl who enunciates": kids who get made fun of for "talking white"/being an "oreo" often come out with a sense of superiority for using Standard English ("proper english") over AAVE (African American Venacular English, or "ghetto") when really both ways of speaking are proper in their own rights being that language is fluid and so many different regions across america have different ways of speaking. and this is coming from a kid who was made fun of for "talking white" and came out feeling more superior for it because "at least i wasn't ghetto." both sides are wrong because there is no way to "talk black" or to "talk white"--but what some of y'all really need to hear is that speaking Standard English doesn't mean you are instantly more intelligent or better for it. that's just based on what i know, though. anyway watch bratz

I was in a mixed martial arts class for 8 years, and we had two nunchuck forms. One was the basic one taught to.. I think the yellow belts, and the other was the advanced one. I absolutely hated both as I can’t get within 5 feet of nunchucks without somehow getting hit (usually in back of my head TvT). There was this one black belt that absolutely loved nunchucks and always had his pair on him. He would be practicing with them and dear god it was frightening to watch... dude was a god with the things. I could never.

Not shocking. Jokes like that weren’t looked down upon back then because nobody cared. If those jokes were in current shows however it would be a HUGE controversy. Shows like glee (etc) that dare to make such jokes can’t exist now because people are gonna call it out.
@gypsywoman91404 жыл бұрын
@@phoebe4871 True facts. Personally, I never found All in the Family funny. Rather, I found it racist and mean. But I was a baby, if that, when that show was airing. If there were reruns as I was growing up, I chose not to watch them because I did not like that show. I doubt any network would air that show, even in reruns, today. What is my point with a show nobody was talking about? If people don't like a tv show that stopped years ago; don't watch it. Nobody is making you watch, they stopped filming the show before Zack and Cody got huge, what do you expect to accomplish by complaining about it? Joey Tribbiani is an old man with silver hair now.
