This was written based on story form but also an expressing of the rage within over taking any good, as of being a very religious person and then losing sight and any feeling of God being taunted and persuaded to give in to the demons due to emotional hurt and pain and the constant longing of a freedom of it but feeling captivated by it, and the power I felt aside of the weak and helpless kid I was, yet at the same time losing hope of anything ever becoming how it used to be before the accumulated trauma and emotional sorrow and distraught before the age of 15, The Negativity unfortunate circumstances Corrupted an once godly innocent youth, aspects of the reality of misery unbearable and stalking each waking day, Made giving in to the darkness and straying from God possible but yet from all the sin that followed once taking each demon hand, soon regret of ever being of it's accepting, I struggled to find my way back to God as I've lost touch with my own reflection only seeing the devil I've become as karma, did it's duty brought depression ten fold, resulting to constant mental battles of to kill or kill myself. It got really really really Fucking dark man.... Advice... Stay within the Light! Always..

Terry was oli's best friend in school and he was a foster child. 3 kids from the school invited him on a camping trip and then killed him with a scythe. One of the 3 was also oli's cousin

This was before Oli decided what he believed in, There Is a Hell Believe Me I’ve Seen It is an album where he’s batting between what he believes in , but in Sempiternal he’s decided that he doesn’t believe in god , in the house of wolves he says “I’ll bow for your king when he shows himself” he’s referring to god and the entire song is about people trying to push religion on him.

yeah, it was while he was in rehab want it, then he had all these people claiming God would help him get through it, and he was like, yeah sure. I've felt the same, had religion, 1 of the worst and cult like religions forced in me as a kid, and my mother was such a hypocrite, she used it for her advantage, but then did things that didn't work with the religion. I've looked in many places for this God and needed"him" and some really dark times, so why would he does himself for dinner and not all, makes no damned sense does it? well not in my opinion anyway. anyway, this song is so well sung and you can hear the emotion in his voice. RIP Terry Hurst ❤️❤️

This song is also about Oliver's sleep paralysis, he would wake up but not be able to actually wake up. He'll see his surroundings and have his eyes open but he wouldn't be able to move at all. I don't know if he had sleep paralysis demons but some people hallucinate and see "Demons" when it happens.
