It's funny how the meaning of this song has changed as I've aged. When this came out, I was 21, young and naive, and had only been in the army for a couple years. Now, I'm 34, and after serving 12 years and a few combat tours, this song rips deep and feels like it came from my heart. It's hard to listen to. Originally, it had a romantic feel to me. Now, suffering from nightmares and finding a partner that is very supportive, it means a hell of a lot more. I just wonder what Oli was going through went he wrote this...because this isn't something that comes from a little inspiration, this comes from a place of real pain and longing.

People have the tendency to forget that BMTH was at least trying to incorporate a lot of different, oddball elements into this heavy metalcore/deathcore sound really early on.
