@@rizalprasetyo6305 pretty much. There is a hell is just Suicide Season but way more technical in terms of riffing. And once they kicked him out they went back to simple riffs again and way less of those sick ass reverb leads.

As a fellow guitarist, this song was probably one of the hardest ones of theirs for me to learn how to play aside from the songs on Count your Blessing. Their new music is fun to play too but a lot more simple than their older tunes. That album has got some pretty intense guitar parts.

+QvinHM I've been playin' a long time, but Count Your Blessings was one of the first more "intermediate" difficulty level albums I learned on guitar. Not the hardest shit in the world, but still tricky for me when I was still learning.

You don't need a baritone scale to sound good. Maybe you just need a good setup. Lee plays on a 24.74 scale which is not that appropriate for this tuning.

I met BMTH 1.5 years ago after a show and the first thing I asked Jona was their tuning. I thought they played Drop C too but Jona said they're all C standard, not Drop C. Which makes sense because The Sadness Will Never End has harmonics you can only get by tuning your guitar 2 steps down. Songs like Sleep with One Eye Open, Blacklist, Football Season Is Over, and Death Breath are in Drop G.

suicide season and there is a hell had some good guitar riffs but I think they've definitely gone in the right direction, if they kept making albums as 'heavy' as this, Oli's live singing would get even worse and more importantly it'd be boring. To be fair to them That's The Spirit is an incredibly well produced album with awesome hooks and some pretty great guitar parts

Actually Jona plays Caparison guitars and Lee's is a mix between A standard and a traditional Les Paul. It's a prototype for his custom model Gibson is making for him

Jona is using a Paul Reed Smith (PRS), i don't know how the model, but is using a EMG pickups, i think that is a PRS Custom 22 Blue modified, and Lee Malia using a Gibson Les Paul Standard

I mentioned the list of tunings they use, and I wasn't 100% sure if it was Drop G or drop G# they used on a couple songs.

@TheCerialGuy Yeah it is, he has two which he uses for Bring Me, one in red, this one in blue ... the blue one for drop A# songs (and the songs with the bottom string tuned to G) and the red one for songs tuned to C standard :)

aside from oli, jona's probably my favorite bmth member. He's a great guitar player, he does all the clean vocals live as well as backup screaming, and he's been in other great bands before this, so he has a lot of experience :D

Tbh, having the pick parallel to the strings makes it harded for me to strum faster, putting a little angle always helps (especially when tremolo picking)

It's really odd for me to watch this honestly, I write music and my guitar riffs come out a lot like bring me the horizon's style and I use heavier strings like them, and my pick style is like a combination of lee's and jona's I have the circle shape like lee but I only use two fingers to hold the pick and have my other fingers out like Jona. Could say they are my inspiration, but it all comes naturally like that

theres mutiple reasons for that. lee could have thicker strings (les pauls usually have thicker strings, altho obviously thats adjustable) also Lee is lead and Jona is rhythm which would mean Lees part is harder

@qeriton I loved Curtis but you do realize Lee did the solos :P He was the lead. But yeah Curtis was the writer. This is completely different type of music now though and this isn't about hitting every note on the guitar fast and heavy its about the rhythm that supports olis vocals. It's a different type of music that actually takes skill to write properly and know what you are doing.
