Stress can affect the goats a lot they are intelligent sensitive creatures. Goats are herd animals and they absolutely need at least another goat friend in order to thrive.

I worked at a small goat dairy of about 24 does for about 11 months, and whenever there were fluctuations in their milk produce it was feed related the majority of the time. We kept the kids with them during the day and separated them at night to milk them in the morning and provided clover and hay depending on how much they would forage in the paddocks. More feed equals more milk, supplements for protein and energy like barley, lupins, oats etc were kept consistent regardless. Also an interesting note is that the taste of the milk will change with their diet. We put them in a field full of yellow flowers(not 100% sure if it was dandelions) and the next morning the milk tasted like pollen lol. Wouldn't really recommend it haha. Goats go for tree bark a lot so be careful around trees you want to keep long term.

@PhilipvanWijk Thank you for all that. She didn't eat that much the first few days. But now, much more. I actually think it was also early early mastitis... from stress. But with massaging and vitamin C, she is better now.

Never had goats milk Chilli but FAR easier than a huge cow to milk plus so easy to move around on along tether. 👌👏500 more subscribers in a week. You'll hit 5K EASY by the end of 2024. Kind regards Pete. N/E NSW

@stayawakenhealthy2539 Yeah, I would love a cow, but the property is only 1/2 an acre. 1 goat fits perfectly 👌. Yesss 5k is so close! 💪, thank you for commenting Pete.

Goats can jump quite well & good escape artists. One of their favourite foods is eating ya washing while it's hanging on the clothes line.

@Greenwattle101 Yeah, they sure are cheeky. That's why we have her on a leash. 👍

is pronounced Sar ni and is a good start as goats milk is very very healthy to drink. Suggest you get a small stainless steel milk. They eat anything and if you doesn't improve tomorrow, something is wrong. Saarnen usually known for their high milk production, but I am referring to the white Saarnen that most people have here in Europe and they will produce 10 pints not 2. Now you have stock, all you need now is some land of your own to start a goat herd. Keep at it you'll get there one day. I was 22 when I bought my first farm, but a lot cheaper per acre that what it is in your neck of the woods and I thought land should be cheap there, having so much of it and so few people to fight over it.

@abxgarcia It's delicious! Way better than goats milk from the shop, that stuff is gross (and puts a lot of people off goats milk)

@@chillidonela That's good to know because while I love goat's cheese, I am one of those who doesn't like goat's (shop) milk. I'll give the 'real stuff' a go the 1st chance I get.

I've been meaning to ask you about goats milk for quite some time. In particular about the taste. How similar is it to cows milk? Is there a big taste difference? For a lack of a better word but does it taste "goaty"? I know foul tastes are probably related to not cleaning off the teats properly and of course freshness and how it's stored. Trying a grocery store brand is probably the only way I can try it before I commit to goats. I live in a rural area but not too many homesteads around. Lots of corn fields and soy beans. Your homestead is coming along so nicely and so is your channel! You're going to break 5k way faster than I thought. Exciting! 😊
@chillidonela2 ай бұрын
@IntenseVisuals The taste is very soft and delicate. Sweet and delicious. I love raw cows milk too, but raw goats milk is lovely! It does not taste goaty. Where as the goats milk in the shop does! It's horrible, in my opinion. Trying grocery goats store milk will only put you off. And thank you! I really hope to get some bees next for some raw honey!

@@chillidonela I planned on getting a couple goats this spring whether I liked the milk or not but I feel pretty reassured the milk will be great! I'll wait to taste! Thanks for the advice.

Your goat absolutely needs at least one other female companion. Anything else is absolutely not appropriate for the species.
