I have several of these and also the model with and internal power supply without a heated bed. New Marlin code works great on them giving it thermal runaway protection, the chance to put on an ABL probe and it increases the readable SD card size to 32Gig. Also, they print more reliably with a geared Titan clone extruder and Capricorn tubing.

Doing the same to mine right now except adding in an SKR Mini v3 board and a T8 lead screw.

Thanks for posting. My problem was that both the USB port for connecting to repetier server AND my SD mini card slot BOTH went kaput (attempting to resolver this week.... then if that fails I might need an SKR board) ....but I will look at those rods ....someone said on Tardigradeoutdoors site that they are soft steel not hardened so I'm curious what options exist to fully replace them with good quality rods ....orbit anyone has found another solution (linear rails)?

converted my old one to a laser engraver . super EZ swap and absolutely amazing accuracy even at extreme high speeds (25000mm per min) due to the stiffness and lack of play in the carriage only drawback is the small bed size .

😅 basically how my revisit to 3D printing is going. 8 years later, and I finally have a practical use for them printing lug nut indicators, and air hose holders for my trucking company. But man, I was definitely laughing at my "mods."

I’m trying to bring to life a Monoprice Select Mini Pro for my granddaughter, but I still can’t figure out why the Z axis is not responding. You seem to know a lot about this old printer from your video, any suggestions? Thanks

I am no expert by any means, but I just recently got this same Monoprice V2 model 3d Printer from a relative and have had to work on it a lot recently to get it back in working order...I suggest by starting with checking the Z-axis wires for wear or pinched wiring. If that is not the issue, run the wires back to the board and check the plug for scorch marks, unplug and check the board near where it plugged into for scorch marks as well (Both front of board & check the soldering on the back side of the board). If that isn't it, I suggest checking the Z-axis collar at bottom of Vertical (Z-axis) rod (Holds the vertical rod to the Z-motor) and make sure the collar is tightened otherwise it will just spin freely, or possibly check the Vertiical (Z-Axis) Rod for damaged threads. (I have 3x ender model 3d printers as well 😊so this video made me smile!) Hope I could help!

I enjoyed the rather well done video of the rebuild. What type of lubricant did you use for the bearings? Did you use an injector akin to the type that's included in Prusa kits? Obviously, you did not lose any of the tiny balls in the bearings when you removed them; I thought that was a concern for this style of bearing? I lack the abilities to completely take apart my mini and may just give it away to someone who can do as you have done. Great work!

Hi Fred, thanks for watching! I used a standard white lithium grease for the bearings. As for losing the balls, I didn’t lose any while taking it apart, they’re kept in place by the rubber in the bearings so as long as you are gentle they shouldn’t come out
