That unboxing was perfect! Also, thanks for a concise and well stated review! Other videos have been too long and boring but this one really felt well made. I've been trying to persuade myself to buy this printer but I've been on the fence because I really don't know what I'm doing, but this video really helps. Thanks!

I purchased one of the first version of this printer a while back. After about three weeks of hard use, the x axis driver failed. Monoprice was quick to respond, but it took them almost six months to send me a replacement unit, I think because they were transitioning to the second version. My tried patience was rewarded with a new version 2 printer that has been dependable in turning out decent prints. One of the biggest differences in the two versions is that the cooling fan has been added for the board. Overall I’ve been pleased with the printer, and agree that it’s an excellent choice for entry into the world of 3D printing. The stock Cura profile for this printer has given me good results with very little tweaking, and I’d recommend this to anyone starting out with this printer.

We just got our maker select V2 up and running again. Those down for a month. I finally had to have someone come over solder and do the electronics cuz I didn't have the knowledge my hands are just too damn big for all that little intricate work. Nice it is back up and running now so that's a plus. Another great video Chris. We really enjoy your content. Have a wonderful day. God bless

Hey, dumb question. I know barely anything about 3d printing. I plan on only using premade things from thingiverse and such, would I be able to check sizing to make sure whatever I want to print would work on such a small printer? Or if it’s too big, will it auto stop or could that potentially ruin the machine as well as the print itself?
@ChrisRiley
@ChrisRiley Жыл бұрын
Hey, so what I would do is download a free slicer of some kind. Like Prusa slicer. Then grab your files from thingiverse and load them in there. That's going to tell you about what size they will be. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmXEnYOoj5iqfZY

Hey Tammy, these are pretty nice little machines. They're are fully assembled which is great. If he I bnb into tinkering or has someone to help him you might look at an ender 3. With just a little bit of assembly you get a lot more bang for the buck. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't try TPU on this one. I would go with an Ender 3 on the low end or a Prusa Mini would be your best bet. The Prusa mini can print everything.

Hi Chris, thanks for showing this video. I do agree on almost any „disadvantage“ you mentioned. I got the V1 and it has the same issues The only thing I „disagree“, is the build size. I figured out, that the size fits great for almost anything I do with it. Just a little spare part here and a another one there. So I am fine with the size. (Not to mention, that I got 3 large printers for real projects). So this one stays on the office desk and it works great. Changes. Made: 1. E3D V6 genuinue installed 2. Fan always on for heat sink and the other one for filament. But those changes are recommended for E3D V6 anyways :-) Best wishes for 2019.

I've been looking at this printer because of positive reviews and I'm new to 3D printing. I'm just looking to print replacement knobs and fader pieces for my vintage audio mixing console. The fader knobs are smaller in size and usually smooth and glossy looking, the knobs for panning and eq are more matte finished. My plan was to get a SOL 3d scanner and this small printer to use in conjunction. But after watching your intro videos I'm wondering if there is a better all in one option or what your thoughts were for my needs? Budget is around 2k
@ChrisRiley
@ChrisRiley 4 жыл бұрын
For smaller items like details on knobs FDM printing might not turn out the best results. If I were you, I would want to see if anyone has been able to reproduce them successfully. Check thingiverse. As for scanning and printing in one, I am not familiar with any of those setups.

I'm new to 3D printing. What does he mean when referring to "retraction settings"?
@ChrisRiley

Retraction, that is when the filament goes up to prevent it from oozing on the print when it moves over it.

The only problem was the location on the hot bed, almost at the edge.

Some times those MK8 extruders can be hard to load. Remove the PTFE tube and see if you can see the pathway better. Also, let the gears guide the filament a bit by not pressing the extruder arm so far down.
