I really like this design, the integration of that body-colored swoop was really nice, and it looks like it could come out in 2023, but it just feels like the Pontiac identity is gone. I would have really liked to see some kind of a modernization of the split grille (better than BMW's treatment).

Agreed, it's not a Pontiac without the grill and I think it would be pretty easy to do it in a treatment that doesn't look like BMW. Just make sure to keep it trapezoidal overall, and it will communicate "Pontiac-ness" pretty clearly.

one of my crazy uncles used to have one of these (in white color too), I remember we were on a road trip once and at one point my uncle decided to do a pull on the highway, the sound of that V6 was unexpected, everyone inside having epic reactions when we noticed the van was outrunning a Honda and a highway patrol car chasing it. When Dad checked the speedometer, we were doing 100mph 🤣

Anyone else remembering Get Shorty where (loan shark) Travolta accidentally gets a Okdsmobile Silhouette (Trans Sport sister model) as an airport rental? Rental company were out of Cadillacs but "this is the Cadillac of minivans". And later in the movie Travolta parks the minivan outside superstar actor Danny DeVito's house who takes it on a test drive and buys one himself. And he starts a new trend among the Holiwood elite where all celebrities drives Oldsmobile Silhouettes.

I hate this generation of GM minivans but in retrospect, they weren't bad with the 3.8L V6. My grandparents had one for traveling on vacation and they hauled all the grandkids in it. Power sliding door, okay seats, pulled a boat just fine. Very polarizing shape and styling, but reliable and functional.

More than likely, the Pontiac Transport/Montana's "comeback" would be based around it's Chinese counterpart, the 2022+ Buick GL8, but it would be built in South Korea for North America-only export (probably in the same factory where the Encore GX/Trailblazers are made). Only difference is the Transport would get the 3.6L V6, along with the Chinese Buick's 2.0 turbo, and slightly altered cosmetics, along with an interior that's uniquely Pontiac. Ironically, the smaller Buick Encore GX-based Pontiac Aztek would be built there as well, and is a direct competitor to the Jeep Compass and Ford Bronco Sport (the Escape is the Trax's primary competitor).

basically, the Pontiac brand has it's thing that it is distinguished from everything else by a specific front design. Where even Fiero does not hide it and tried to make it a little visible. The one in the photo looks like a European one. Sorry but that's my opinion. Nothing will take away the charm of old PTSs, whether before or after the facelift

Removing the twin port grille removes its identity as a Pontiac. Pontiac has historically had a twin port grille just as long as BMW has, only wide/horizontal vs. tall/vertical. So you ended up converting this into a Chevrolet Lumina APV or Oldsmobile Silhouette. Additionally, you didn't clean up the peeling paint on the roof.

Awesome. I would love to build some of these cars that you come up with. I would also love to see the rear view as well to see what you would do in the back to take up that rather tall space that goes from the top of the rear bumper to the bottom of the glass.... Amazing editing skills for sure! Im not criticizing your editing skills but your design. The front of the car looks like a 2015 kia bumper mounted on anything 1990s GM crap. The wheels are something one would put on their car in GTA online and the rear just looks like a Honda CR-V or something. I owned one of these for short while and it was really cool in its way. But i do think the cars weirdness made it fun but somewhat impractical at the same time mainly due to the drivers controls and minor crap. Id say new cars are much worse. The 3800 motor had plenty of power for a minivan. Was a very fun vehicle to go around with.

The van, as some have mentioned already, did not have a V-8, nor was it's engine even 3.8L in displacement. It was a 3.4L V-6. And the way the engine was already stuffed into the front, I'm not sure there would have been enough room for the 3.8L. The next gripe I have is the way you mentioned being able to remove the rear seats. Every van can do that, that's nothing special. What you could have mentioned, though, was that the 5 rear seats were individual chairs rather than typical benches and could, therefore, be removed individually. This made the Trans Sport far more versatile for carrying people and their things. You also made it sound like they came with leather upholstery by default, which was also not true. Leather was optional only on higher-end models. Base models didn't even have air conditioning, ABS, or even airbags as standard equipment when they were introduced in 1990. Fun fact: One thing that GM managed to figure out, though, that Chrysler (the "inventors" of the minivan) still hadn't entirely figured out some ten years after launching the Caravan, was that they were able to make the side door, the sliding one, lock in the open position when the van was facing downhill, regardless of how steep the hill was. It took forever for Chrysler to work that one out. I should also mention that, even though they eventually dropped the Trans Sport name altogether, the van itself was not truly discontinued until much later. Instead, what GM did was transition the Trans Sport into the Montana by way of making "Montana" a trim level of the van for a year or two and then quietly dropping the original name completely. But, it was still the exact same van as before. It was at that point in time that Chevy got the Venture as a replacement for its Lumina APV. The worst, however, was yet to come, when GM changed the name again to SV6 (after a similar phasing out strategy as with the Trans Sport) and dramatically changed the design along with it. Chevy's version became the Uplander, Oldsmobile lost the Silhouette a long time before this (and was killed off completely by GM in 2003), Buick instead got one called, of all things, the Terraza, and even the still young Saturn got one called the Relay. By the time the minivans were axed, they were powered by 3.9L V-6 that put out 240hp. Gm hasn't made a minivan since. The 2008 global financial meltdown might have had a small part to play in that, as well. Lol

I'm a big fan of your redesigns - usually. This one seemed to lose the character of the Pontiac brand when you scrubbed the split grille. It almost looks like an EV now, because there'd be no air cooling possible. Also, with moving the B-pillar, I half expected you to add a hockey-stick stripe, similar to Starsky and Hutch's 1976 Ford Gran Torino, only reversed! 🤣 Those rims just destroyed it, also. They're more up-to-date, sure, but they are just too big!
