I have the blue one which I've had for 22 years and been all over on it. Sadly it's not used now because my knee won't bend enough but I don't think I'll ever sell it, it means far too much to me. The older bikes are awesome, you really feel plugged in. I had a 929 fireblade too but that was far too cramped, you would think it was a sports bike 🤣🤣👍👍 Oh and if you want it to steer a bit quicker drop it 10mm at the front and have the forks through the top yoke. It was the mod in the day. To be honest I couldn't tell any difference but I never took it on a track 😊👍👍 Oh and take the gear lever off and clean and lube it. They can get gooed up and it's one of the causes for a knackered gearbox 👍👍

Hi came across your video whilst doing a ZX9r search. Welcome to the world of real bikes😂😂😂. Fantastic video one word of advise for chain lubrication this is as per D.I.D’s recommendation and I have done this since 1980 to clean the chain use paraffin and then lubricate with a w90 gearbox oil this is far superior than any chain wax/lube and doesn’t pepper your rear wheel with crap hope this helps good luck with the old girl 👍👍

You will have over filled it as you have it on the paddock stand
@tonymontana897 Жыл бұрын
Yeah probably, but if you know the exact amount, you just fill it with with a premeasured amount. The sticker on the clutch case reads as follows. 3.1L when oil filter not removed 3.3L when oil filter is removed 3.8L when engine is completely dry. So what I do is fill it with 3.3L and top up as required.

A scottoiler is a good investment on chain drive, cleans and lubes constantly.... set up correctly they are brilliant, perhaps even moreso for bikes that commute a lot in all weathers. Good to see you are giving that old zx some love ( although I did chuckle about the oil spilling on the path and not bothering to torque up an essential bolt 🫣). Hope bike is still being used, theyre great 👍

You can pick up inexpensive torque wrenches from screwfix, essential kit in my opinion.👍

Swap Rear Mini Indicators for Standard, that may Cure Fast Flashing, or it may be just a Dodgy Wire/Bulb. Swap the Front Halogen Bulb for an Expensive Led one and just Change it back on MOT Day, although it may Pass depending on the Tester. The ZX9 has a Bullet Proof Engine,...........Usually, i've had 2 of them, both C2's and they were more than you'd ever need for the Road.

Don't cheap out on engine oil something like Motul 5000 4T 10w-40 semi synthetic is perfect and hardly expensive.

Nice work with the oil change, thanks for showing it. That filter looked like a challenge to remove. Bike looks great for 24 years old. On my prior Ninja 250R 2008 (carbureted 15 year old bike), I adjusted that stock chain one time in its lifetime since it was usually snug, and spraying it with only regular WD40 after every ride, got over 36,000 miles on the original chain, which surprised me as they're only supposed to last about 14,000 miles. WD40 is the key though in my view. I never wheelied that bike either, so maybe that helped prevent the chain from loosening/stretching from the rapid jolt needed to lift up the front of that smaller engine bike with the clutch/higher revs, along with the lower power.
@davapod Жыл бұрын
You wouldn't get away with that with a performance bike. As much as I like WD40 it is not a suitable chain lube. I would not use it on my bicycle chain.😂

@@davapod You may be right about a race track bike. I push my street bikes to the limits often though, and it's proven a long-term solution for me personally, spraying it heavy each time back into the garage, no issues in over 75000 miles with WD40, which keeps it way less rigid than the Chain Lube WD40 option that I tried, which only stiffened the chain.

Hi, you are checking your oil level with the back up in the air and the front wheel on the ground, how is that level 😢
@RT22-pb2pp11 ай бұрын
No oil from before change is still on spots inside 3/4 full is room to add and never to much. Measure drained. Now you will refill filter so if you did not prefilled filter you are goid and can top off later

Hey is silicon spray recommended for plastic and cables? I put lithium grease on metal on metal moving parts. Can you put grease on the chain bolt tensioner? Or silicon spray?
