Take two virtuous traits, save up for a pilgrimage early to Jerusalem early game (should be 125 gold), then marvel at the free pope gold every couple of years that start modest (100 gold first time), but eventually the payouts scale with your realm size/feudal rank (count, Duke, king, emperor) to where your getting a hefty sum (450ish gold as Duke of Barcelona with 9 counties and 2 vassals) to obscene (1500 gold for emperor with bare minimum to have custom empire.. 80 realm size 3 kingdoms). Its also repeatable depending on whether pope likes you enough, whether he has enough gold, and if you both of those are met, a cool down of something like 4 years. There's also the 250 piety cost that shouldn't be an issue if you have two virtuous traits (+1 monthly piety each) and have taken the pilgrimage, since you get 650 piety and +5 opinion bonus with same faith rulers, ala the pope (+25 since virtuous traits give +10 opinion bonus to catholics).

There's actually an event, which only happens for lunatics (and only rarely at that!) which needs to fire to unlock the decision: trait_specific_ongoing.1007 The monument of glass is insane for tall strategies, so that event being rare is about the only thing stopping lunatic from being the proper choice for tall playthroughs.

This game is fairly easy even on the hardest difficulty. Can't wait for 20 years from now when this game will have this but you can go into a first person view of a battle and actually fight and order troops around. For now my imagination is good enough but that's definitely gonna happen. Maybe not as fast as 20 years but I can hope lol

The game is not worth playing, even when its working the 'heir wandering off' thing is unrealistic and frustrating gameplay. That's what heirs did in the middle ages right, wandered off just as they were about to inherit kingdoms. When it's not working 'properly' the game can actually lose track of where your heirs are in the game. Son wanders off with wife and two kids, the son and wife return eventually, but the two kids are stuck visiting another court with no educator. I can change their chosen education type. But can only briefly select an educator, but as soon as its selected the character selection resets. The whole heir wandering mechanic is just broken. forums have been filled with complaints about this for years, but Paradox is TOXIC to feedback.

How is this capitalism? Capitalism by definition is free market, meaning devoid of government intervention ("invisible hand"). You literally can't have capitalism in any Paradox game afaik.

If you want to get into it, I'm game 🤷‍♂ "oligopoly, monopoly, market manipulation and corruption" All present, in much stronger forms, in socialist countries. The US was much freer / more capitalistic, economically, than any other country in the 20th century, which spawned an insane amount of innovation: Radio, airplanes, refrigeration, air conditioning, sneakers, computers, modern banking, the internet, Google, Apple, GitHub, cryptocurrency, and so much more. All invented in the US for a reason.

Valid point about the internet, however I would say the govt only funded ARPANET, but it wasn't made useful until entrepreneurs did anything with it. I don't like the monopolies argument though. The idea that the monopoly on violence (the govt, with police, a military, spy agencies, etc.) should "break up" peaceful businesses providing useful products to people who consent to purchasing them doesn't make sense to me.

@@ak47-sh97x Nah I mean, he's kinda right: what other games can my lazy, callous and greedy child murder his cousin to gain his lands, only to die when his disastrous treatment for his gout leads to him being made a eunuch, which makes him commit suicide? And that's an NPC. What we as players can do is even wilder. Yeah, it's limited but it's still pretty wild for a game that's, at its core about getting your family titles

​@@Dmitrisnikioff yeah i have like 400 hours on ck3 you dont have to tell me your crazy unbelieveable stories i've seen every event in at least several different variations present in the game rn. it is really magical when you come back after several months but every event becomes stale and boring after 50 hours in one dynasty/campaign. game really needs dlc's that add a lot more new events imo. even with several mods that add new content and events when you start to see the literal same event 398748th time in one campaign it becomes tedious.
