In this video, Mark goes through the process of bringing shingles into the valley and how to mark, cut, and bend the shingles to secure them to the valley pan. Mark also gives some tips on how to adjust the stagger pattern to avoid ending up with very small pieces at the valley.

They dont look much different then if they weren't tapered do they

Because of the natural taper of the shingle, the valley folds really should be tapered on an interlocking valley in order to make things look right.
