Thank you for your wonderful comments. What's amazing about these girls is that they are world-class in terms of their ability to play instruments and sing, but more than that, it's clear that they enjoy music themselves. People who watch it will naturally have fun.

Band-Maid, live, is a unique experience! There is no other band I have seen, and being 68 I've seen plenty of the Legends, that brings the entertainment that these ladies bring! It's a immersive experience!

I totally agree Wayne,I am same age as you, and this is the most exciting act I seen live, since I saw Led Zep live in early1970's ....and i think they surpassed Zep. Sorry Jimmy, but IS A FAN of the Maids, so fair call I think.

Thank you for being one of the earlier strong supporters of Band Maid and for your engaging insights. You were a significant contributor to establishing Band Maid's early (in the West) fan base; your continued support is appreciated! Masterclass Ladies Forever!!!!!

Linkin Park, huh? My family and I had let various circumstances get in the way of our seeing Linkin Park on several occasions. Then, we made a decision -- this time we're going to see Linkin Park -- nothing will get in our way! We'll bite the bullet and buy really good seats (which we did). We were hyped. Finally, it's all going down! Then something happened. The show was cancelled. And, because of that "something" that happened, we will never see them live, in person. Carpe diem, carpe diem!
@AMetalheadsPerspective Жыл бұрын
That is very unfortunate and I am sorry you missed out on that opportunity. I am grateful I got to see them many years ago. Our seating was not ideal and it was 90 degrees with the water lines hundreds of people long so I was a little heat stroked by the end. It was still awesome to see the legend. RIP

Sounds rough, but I suspect that you would do it all over again to have that LP reward.

As I was reading your response, another parallel between LP and Band Maid occurred to me. Early in Linkin Park's career (as when they had, "Who the hell is Linkin Park?" status), it was commonplace for them to open to smallish crowds at festivals. However -- due to their talent, energy and charisma -- it was also common for them to draw people to them -- in droves -- as their show went on. Most of the people in the Lollapalooza crowd knew little or nothing about Band Maid at the start of their set. Compare the size of the population of listeners at the beginning of the show to that present for the closing song. Talent -- as artists and entertainers -- will out!

You said everything that goes through my mind when I watch this. When Saki is chillin' during the guitar/bass duel you can tell that she knows she's watching the greatest rock band playing today and it's something special. She'd never say that outloud but she doesn't have to because they just proved it on that stage. It's like they all realized they nailed it at the same time. Saki's smile is saying she's so proud of her bandmates and she is loving it. At least that's what I see when I watch it.

I just got to see them in Salt Lake and it was incredible. I am in my seventies and this band is as good as any I have seen going back to Led Zepplin and the Stones and Guns n Roses. You are so correct in that you are lost after it is over. You just go what did I see? I thank the music gods for Band Maid and I especially want to thank Band Maid for the efforts they have taken to be such and incredible band and giving the world their music!

Thank you for the video and your reaction. I read somewhere that Akane broke two sticks during this set. You can see the rack toms moving under the power of her kick drum. All the members were super hyped as Band-Maid were the only Japanese rock act represented at the festival. The whole set was fire!!

According to several media outlets, there were about 20000 people. Maids said that there were a lot fewer people when they started performing, but the crowd got bigger and bigger as the performance progressed. Miku said "I saw people ran from far away, PO!"

If you watch the entire hulu feed, you'll see they had maybe 3 cameras. And these were the full sized 60 pounders on tripods. Only one steady cam and it was on Kanami. The director was probably telling one to get on MISA, but it takes a bit of time to move and set up.
@Davey-Boyd Жыл бұрын
I'm an old camera operator who worked in TV. I've done loads of live shows, hundreds. It is really obvious to me the director had no clue which instrument was playing what. When MISA kicked off the camera was directed to Miku and stayed there. Also you don't move those heavy tripods during a show, they are pretty well fixed in place and operate where they are set up. They didn't have the roaming camera's they needed. Lollapalooza obviously hired a production company that had no experience with live music. They were probably cheap.

Great reaction and this show was on fire. I feel bad for them as it was around 95-100F when they started playing and you can see them moving in and out of the shade and I was worried for Kanami because of the incident at the end of their 2022 tour when she had to lie down during the magic time. I guessing that her hands were sweaty due to the high heat.

You're right about that! Lollapalooza started out as a Alternative version of Woodstock. Over the year's there's been less Punk and more Junk. This was the line up for the very first Lollapalooza: Jane's Addiction, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Living Colour, Nine Inch Nails, Ice-T's Body Count, Butthole Surfers, Henry Rollins Band, Fishbone and the Violent Femmes. I would go to that show. Now it's quantity over quality. The only one I cared about this year was BAND-MAID! And the technical director was consistently behind on the action, missing solos at every turn. Saiki said she just loved that phrase in English. I Hate You. In Japanese it's Anata ga kirai desu. Which is more like I dislike you. You could throw in dai, which would be Big Dislike, which is even less direct. But she felt, I hate you, is so direct, she loved it. Japanese English speakers will often get together to speak English because it's the only time they can express themselves so directly.
