Honestly I won’t sit here and pretend like the game doesn’t have issues, but it’s definitely not as bad as IGN’s review makes it out to be. The pacing issues are nothing compared to the ones that existed in Paper Jam and Dream Team
@reydesonic7 күн бұрын
Paper Jam is such an outlier because it has amazing pacing in the very beginning (Green Shell, Fire Flower, Jump, Hammer, Paper Mario’s Jump, Hammer, Copy AND Special Attack ALL in the first hour of the game) But then the pacing takes a nosedive and becomes the stupidest fetch quest ever.
@brzt42566 күн бұрын
How bad do you think IGN's review makes it out to be? I think the review was fair and balanced, and I think the score makes sense. I always see people talk about it by comparing it to other reviews, but that doesn't make any sense. Same thing with this comment: we're supposed to think the pacing is good because there exist two games which have worse pacing? How does that make sense?
@reecenolan92926 күн бұрын
@@brzt4256 because IGN gave dream team an 8 and paper jam a 6, despite the problems they talk about in their brothership review being way more pronounced and apparent in these games.
@swittchblade6 күн бұрын
@@reecenolan9292 You do have to take into account though, that it doesn't look like any of those reviews were written by the same person. One person's 6 is another person's 8. The reviews were also written at different times. Gaming culture changes and what was acceptable in the past may no longer be acceptable now. I haven't researched ign's reviews for all 3 games so I'm not really going to speak on what the games deserved as their scores, but I don't think comparing one ign score to another is the most productive thing without further context.

@echelonii34037 күн бұрын
@@defierofdeath2463 I love RPGs, but you can make RPGs where the pacing isn’t bad at the start. Final Fantasy 7 starts pretty strong, for example. Dragon Ball Fusions handles its pacing quite well. A lot of pokemon games that aren’t BW or Sun/Moon thread the needle pretty well. Let’s not pretend it’s impossible to have decent pacing at the start of an RPG. I doubt it’s as big an issue in brothership as reviews say but like…come on now.
Once the battle plugs are unlocked the battles have a decent amount of variety to them.

Spoilers: I do agree that the bond collecting quest is a pretty annoying Ulti-Bed style fetch quest, and the lower layer of the Soli-Tree is a bit too long, but the fake mushroom kingdom and everything past that point is basically everything I wanted from this game’s finale. Even if it takes a step back in some ways (namely music), we can at least appreciate it isn’t Bowser for the sixth time in this six game series.

There were many Moments in this game which almost made me quit even.
