I'm from Germany but I've been to Brisbane several times and have lived here now for almost a year. I absolutely love it and i really think it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I appreciate my own hometown and miss it sometimes, cause it's a beautiful place right at the border to Switzerland and Austria at a giant lake. But still, Brissie stole my heart haha. I'm glad you can see it's beauty know aswell :)

I’ve never seen this city presented in such a beautiful, caring light. A few months or so ago I stopped on the walking bridge as the sun was setting and just looked out over the river for almost an hour, mesmerised by the movements of the cars and the clouds and the ferries. This video made me feel the same way as I did that night, so thank you for sharing it and allowing others to appreciate that same overlooked beauty.

If it's the weekend, parking is only around $10-$15. So if you're going with a couple people it's definitely better to drive than use public transport.

Brisbane has drastically improved over the last decade or so and the rest of the country hasn't really realised yet. Also that "new farm park" area you showed early on in the video is called Howard Smith Wharves if anyone is interested/curious. It's an amazing spot at night with the bridge and city lit up.

Hot Tip! Parking under King George Square in Brisbane is only $5 on weekends or after 4pm on weekdays! It's my go to place for a park in the city! :)
@BrisbaneChannel
@BrisbaneChannel 5 жыл бұрын
And you can actually arrive at 3:45pm on weekdays and just pay the $5, as the first 15min is not counted (but if you arrive at 3:44, it'll cost something ridiculous - trust me (I paid about $30 when I made that mistake)).
5 жыл бұрын
I'll let you in on a mad secret seeing as I'm in the mood to be a sikknt. You can park for free in the city on weekends. Go left down Herschel Street off George Street and directly opposite the little red brick building (the Government Medical Office) is a long driveway that will take you to some Christian building that is never in use (usually). You can get away with parking up the back there for free. Do not do this on a weekday during the day or if there is something going on in that Christian building (It has a long name I can't remember)

I lived there for almost two years and it’s good if you prefer a slower pace lifestyle. The city area itself features attractions you can experience in less than a week. It’s a good base to have if you like doing day trips to Morten island or Noosa. They have some brunch cafes spread out if you know where to look ;)

I moved to Brisbane from Melbourne 2 years ago and it was the best decision of my life. Sure it can be a little sleepy at times compared to Sydney/Melbourne but it makes up for it in so many ways. So much less traffic, its super clean and green, virtually no crime in the inner city, great cafes, really laid back friendly people and of course the perfect weather all year around. It's Australia's best kept secret, I just hope not too many Southerners like myself wake up and move here.

Absolutely loved the video. Just for the record, I'm not actually saying Brisbane is boring in that video you mentioned, although most people don't get that far due to the general crappiness of the video (my first ever KZbin video, made about two weeks after first laying my hands on video-capable gear, starting to learn Premiere etc). My videos are still pretty bad, but improving. Good to see someone a lot further along doing some stuff about Brissie, as there's not much out there ATM.

As an alternative point of view I would highly recommend you don't get a car to see most of the places shown in this video. They are mostly around the city centre and fringes and you should walk or use the excellent citycat public transport ferry system to see: Captain Burke Park South Bank Howard Smith Wharves Queen St GOMA An alternative is to use the City Cycle system or Lime scooters. Note there are no plans at the time of writing to ban the Lime scooters. The only exception to this (from what I remember in this video) is Mt Coot-tha Lookout. There is a bus from the city that takes you there that most tourists catch though.

Great job capturing BRISBANE. Kinda forget how amazing it can be especially this time of the year. Seen so many of your adventures it is cool to see familiar sites.

Best thing to do in Brisbane is chuck in $20 into fuel and hit a beach up in the Sunny Coast or down in Gold Coast, grab $20 worth of Fish & Chips for you and the FAMZ. Instead of walking around Southbank and Roma St which cost money paying for parking or using our expensive public transport and then eating over priced food all day.

i live on the gold coast, but i visit brisbane really frequently (at least once every week). whenever i'm driving on the M1 into the city and i see the skyline, i always feel something warm in my heart. i love brisbane very much, and it'll always have a special place in my heart. i've never told anyone that because i think it's really lame. so i thought i might comment on this video anonymously.

This video makes me miss those beautiful, spacious places by the river. And the comfy t-shirt and shorts weather.

I’m convinced that Brisbane has some of the best weather in the world. SO comfy (except for sometimes in summer haha)

@@CurrentlyHannah It can be a bit much, but at least it's (usually) not Singapore / Malaysia level. The people are so chilled out though. It's almost like the there's something in the air and sunlight there to help you relax. Oh yeah, if scooters are out, try bicycles along the river around Brisbane City / West End or New Farm. Nice cafes, markets and photo spots.

Ahhhh I'm originally from Brissy, but have been living overseas for over two years. I used to think Brissy was so boring but since moving away, I have definitely gained a new appreciation for it and I miss it like crazy

awwww I moved to NYC at the beginning of this year (Specifically Brooklyn) for my job. I can't see myself going home for the foreseeable future but when I first got out of the cab to my apartment I had this massive realisation and like spiritual moment that I won't have kids here. Brisbane is pretty dry when you hit your twenties but it gives you the _best_ childhood ever. There are so many area's to play in, parks and people looking out in general in the community. It's slow but not lazy. Everyone is doing something but there not in any hurry to get it finished. It's safe, free healthcare, the weather sucks for a month but the rest of the year it's perfect, _fresh food_ thats such a thing food sucks outside of Australia and Brisbane has the best strawberries. Also for all the shit I gave the valley it's actually a really good place to club, everything in one district and the cops are super relaxed. I know it's growing so fast and the only thing I hope for when I get back are that restaurants open past 10pm because that's so shite and something I love here and that it becomes more dog friendly.
