As a fellow Australian, it's rather lovely to see you in your home setting although I first discovered you in Japan when I was searching for Japanese phrases for tourists. I have enjoyed all your You Tube videos and offer my appreciation for all your efforts and artistry. I sincerely hope your visa comes through and you are able to rejoin Chris in Japan and resume your Japanese adventures.You are always a delight to watch.

Thank you for this recap. You never have to apologize...we all go through the "ups and downs" of life. We get it, you're human (a good one at that). The video is truly beautiful. Australia has always been a country/continent that we've always wanted to go to...but life just hasn't afforded us the ability to do it. Your videos are so helpful. Still want to travel there, but in the mean time, we'd love to see your home country...only like you can show it to us. Maybe another Travel Guide (Australia version). Just a thought. Time away from the one's we love is always difficult. We want to see you back in Japan and happy again. You are in our thoughts and prayers...that that happens sooner, rather than later. Ugh. It was good to see Chris. Sad that it was SO short. But, at least you had that. Again, thanks for sharing this video with us. We were getting a little worried on how you were. We are thankful that you are as "well" as you are...and hopefully getting better...day by day. Talk to you, soon.

Hey Hannah! Just wanted to say that i love your videos. They are beautifully shot and you seem like a lovely person. I’m from sydney myself and my brother has been living in Japan for 6 years. I’ll be going to japan in about 4 weeks for the 2nd time since 2018 and have binged your videos a fair bit in the last several months. I hope you are doing okay and yep….life is a rollercoaster! Expectations change everything about how we experience things, so it makes sense that you’ve had such a conflicting time. Much love ❤

@@CurrentlyHannah For sure! Also thank you for your older vegan japan content! I’m a vegan myself and found it very helpful when thinking about going to Japan. The first time definitely wasn’t easy and I actually lost weight eating rice and edamame 🤣 I actually have a personal growth channel that i’ve just recently started talking about the struggles of life (the good old rollercoaster) and experiences that i think are universally shared…i’m all about accepting what is and the negatives of life! so maybe you’d enjoy it 😅 anyway! Thanks for responding and thanks for your beautiful content. 🙌🏼

So nice to get an update, and it's great to see you having quality time to catch up with friends and family. 😌 It's not under the circumstances you wanted, but I remember in a previous video you felt kinda bad about missing out on more family time and watching the youngins grow up. So I guess the silver lining is not having to feel guilty about choosing (because the government powers that be are setting the rules), and you're getting a solid dose of catchups with everyone. Sending you all the positive vibes that the next application goes through without a hitch. ✊❤

I'm sorry the limbo you're in makes you feel so down, but I hope you'll find a way to enjoy your home country and the unknown. Looks like projects and social distractions do help, so try to include as many of those as possible 🙂 If you travel through Adelaide where I live and want to explore some South Australia, I'd be very keen to show you some beautiful places. @@jagodabrie411 recovering from the traffic/commute times, impossibility of buying a home, general Sydneysider grumpiness because they have no life outside work due to the aforementioned commute times. 😅 A big thing I miss is good cheap eats, we live just above Prospect and my husband is allergic to chilli, capsicum and raw tomato so that knocks out a lot of the local food options (good Italian takeaway suggestions?). We'd be willing to move in the next year (within SA) and would really appreciate somewhere we can walk less than 10 minutes to a good cafe with coffee and gooey poached eggs and ideas for scenic places to walk the dog and better lit streets at night. Thankies 💜 we have gone up to Barossa and to the Hills which is lovely every now and again but we aren't big drinkers so the wonderful wine regions are a little wasted on us as are the beaches which we only visit because the dog loves it.
@jagodabrie411
@jagodabrie411 Жыл бұрын
@@Veradis Oh I totally hear you, I love a good cafe and myself not a huge fan of what your husband's allergic to. One of my favourite cafes is Melo Cafe in Windsor Gardens. The neighbourhood is meh but cafe itself is lovely and food's always been great. I don't remember any capsicums either and just next to is the best hairdresser I've ever been to. You actually seem to be living right next to me (I'm also just above Prospect but a bit more east). I can't remember other good cafes but if I do, I'll let you know! I also live close to Roy Amer reserve that's lovely for a dog walk (nice slow 20min to walk through the whole thing). If you're keen for more of a hike, then Anstley Hill a bit more north-east is lovely. It even has a dog-friendly pub near one of the entrances. I am also not a crazy fan of wineries. Like, I don't mind occasional wine and most of these places are nice, but usually expensive, with booking cancellation fees and quite a drive, just for the experience that seems a bit repetitive.

I plan to move to Sydney when I’ve finished my a levels and go to university there. Your videos in Japan have been awesome to watch over the past year throughout my studies, but this one stands out. It’s cool to get a full dedicated vid to Australia from you, especially because I’m probably going to do a round trip when I settle there. It is great to catch up with family and friends, but it isn't where you want to be. I did manage to get back (to Australia ironically). The visas seem a lot harder to get in Japan - especially the more permanent ones - which is a shame as you are an amazing ambassador for the country. A tour around some of the more remote parts of Australia would be great too - your cinematography and editing is great - even when the camera overheats and the microphone fails!

It’s hard to know what to do when you’re in a holding pattern waiting for something to come about, but until then you’re stuck. Once it’s past you’ll look back and think, oh I could have done this or that, but didn’t due to the fact you felt you could plan anything else until this one thing was taken care of. Your talent to capture awesome footage has not waned in the least. The girl you asked if she enjoyed her present I see as a cone of you or a mini Hannah in the making. There’s was a shot of a distant isolated peaks. They reminded me of bell towers of buildings in Thailand, but also a green version of the landscape in Monument Valley in the state of New Mexico. Thanks for your review of the Sony camera you bought. I’m guessing all of your gear is still in Japan. Well not your drone. Thank goodness. Oh, you might look into your homeland for a microphone by RODE. They’ve got some great gear. Their wireless lavaliere mics are very good. I’m surprised the poor quality of the mic on your camera. I’ve seen the built in mics for their vlogging camera line up have been very good and not glitchy like yours is. Bummer. I’m sad for you not being granted a visa. I wonder what are the reasons they keep coming up with to deny you a new one. Hopefully your frustration and feeling of denial will soon be resolved and replaced with elation, and that you can return home. How strange it is that during the pandemic restrictions you were homesick, and now that you are home and unable to return to Japan it’s a different feeling, because you’re stuck being in limbo. Well as of the time viewing you video. The audio of you on the hill was fine. The ambient sounds weren’t as loud or distracting as you found them to be. Your audio was clean and clear. Oh your comparison of Sydney to NYC. Are you able to wipe soot of your face on an hourly basis, and is the only way you can see the blue sky is by looking straight up, because the surrounding buildings make walls liken to that of the Grand Canyon. Oh, I don’t know nor have I ever seen a critter like the one that was stuck, but it does look like a Tribble from Star Trek!

If you bought a Sony RX100 VII - then it will have a Microphone jack (3.5mm Stereo mini jack) and many people use the following setup: Vello Hot Shoe Bracket - so you can mount the camera and a decent microphone next to each other Sony VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip - this is mounted to the bottom of the bracket Rode Microphone - several Rode mics will work, but you asked for a small one. Sound is important, so maybe the Rode VideoMicro microphone with a windshield is the best option. Not the biggest or the smallest, but still great sound and it comes with a shock mount to reduce noise when moving about. If you want a nicer look I would get the SmallRig Camera Cage for Sony RX100 VII. The SmallRig brand is super durable, will protect your camera from accidental falls and have mounting points for microphones and super cool looking hand grips. So I recommend you get the SmallRig camera cage and mount the Rode VideoMicro to it.

After 5 years I got tired of Tokyo, so I left. My Japanese wife goes regularly for her job, and one of our son choose to live in Brisbane for his Uni. We are all happy. Japan is unquestionably an interesting place to visit. So are Australian cities.

I know how you feel being in limbo man, i moved back to Aus from living os for 13 years, i described it as feeling as if im in purgatory, just stuck in-between. Ive decided to stay here and getting my own place and working to get a job definitely helps with a sense of purpose and settling back in... It certainly is tough tho.

Wow, just came across this video.... Got caught up in how long it's been since it came out ( 4 months ago) then I realized that it must've been shot a year ago..... Because the EKKA is in August and doesn't begin in 2023 until this coming weekend. That tells me you had a tonne of footage. Wow.

Haha that part cracked me up too! But yeah you should totally go! It was actually so much bigger than I remember as a kid (and the fireworks have really upped their game).

Hi Hannah. Regarding the mic, you might want to look into a small camera cage from either small rig or ulanzi as they both (I believe) have cold shoe mounts for external mics. Just a thought :)

Microphone recommendation? I've a Rode VideoMicro for my Sony ZV-1. It looks huge because it's a tiny camera - similar size to your RX100 - but it works pretty sweet, with nice sound. Thanks for another lovely video.

As a measure of how not-Australian I am, that huge bird flapping onto the table would've *FREAKED* me out!! It really sucks that you're being messed about regarding your visa, but we all hope they see sense soon and the rollercoaster arches back up again.
