Brisbane Cross River Rail - Reality Theatre Presentation at Queensland Rail Experience Centre

Brisbane is currently undergoing a massive boon in infrastructure and building. Perhaps the most significant project is the construction of Cross River Rail, an ambitious new underground railway line set to not only connect important points across the city but to also ease the operational bottleneck caused by limited city centre rail pathways and river crossings. Due to open in 2025, Cross River Rail will provide passengers with both a state of the art urban transport system and new entertainment precincts, not to mention impressive new pedestrian access to the Gabba Stadium, all ready in plenty of time for the 2032 Olympics! QR and the Queensland Government have set up an impressive (and free to visit!) Experience Centre just off Elizabeth Street in the Brisbane CBD where visitor can experience immersive VR tours of the developments and study models and diagrams of the construction. The centre also features the 'Reality Theatre' where informative videos are projected across three walls, affording guests an impressive, entertaining and highly educational experience. Whoever's making these videos needs to check and balance the audio levels and fine tune the audio engineering.

Thanks for your feedback Sobieski, and yes, I do apologise for the quality of the sound on this video. As you can see, I filmed the whole thing in the reality theatre at the QR Experience Centre. I fully admit that the viewer experience is so much better when you’re actually there, with images projected onto three walls. I’m guessing that the audio is designed for the room to be full, with the audience’s bodies absorbing much of the sound energy. As it was, I was the only person in there; the sound was therefore bouncing around and there was little I could do to change it, even at the editing stage. However, given that this exhibition will only be open for a relatively short time, I thought it useful to record it and share it with others, despite the poor quality of the sound. To be honest, I’m surprised that QR are quite happy for people to do this on social media (provided you reference their website in the post, as I have done). But then, this project seems to have caused so much public debate, mainly regarding costs and disruptions, that I think the powers that be just want as many people as possible to come onboard.
