Not really… it sounds epic when he lays out this storyline but in reality are you going to make a whole movie about a 5 min shootout where no one died? Maybe if a crime TV series made a 30-60 min episode directly inspired by this, that could be dope. But there’s way more interesting stories to make movies out of. Things like the Rampart scandal and the Iran-Contra Affair are way over due for a movie. That’s what I think would make amazing movies . If you don’t know what those are just google them.

I worked at Madigan Army Medical Centers ER when a gang-related drug bust went down wrong. A police officer was shot, as well as a gang member. I will never forget the ocean of blood in the ER or all the Crips standing just outside the ER doors, waiting for news. The gang member didn’t make it. It was really scary waiting to see what would happen next. Thankfully, nothing did. The drug pipeline still runs south to north to this day. Just with something far my lethal-Fentanyl.

I still find it hilarious that the "Official Reports" say that "miraculously nobody was killed." Man, that wasn't a miracle. Nobody was killed because the Rangers weren't shooting to kill and the Rangers were so far out of the Crips' league that there was no chance in Hell of any Crip scoring a kill. I guarantee you if those Rangers wanted those Crips dead, they would have been dead. The Tacoma Police are damned lucky they didn't roll up on a street full of corpses. Seriously, though, "No Fatalities" isn't a "miracle" when the CO of the Rangers gave the order, "Shoot To Disarm." I still remember learning the Bloods and Crips hand signs in school. I couldn't produce the Crips one now if you put a gun to my head, but I could, probably, produce the Bloods. Maybe. And that's only because I remember how freaking complex it was. It wasn't all that hard to do, but I remember thinking, "You can't be serious. THIS is the Bloods' Gang Sign? They couldn't have made something, I don't know... simpler?" Now don't get me wrong, we weren't stupid enough to go around flashing it. I don't even know where the person who taught us learned it. I will say, though, despite it being the Gang Sign of a Famous Gang, the Bloods' Gang Sign is actually pretty impressive. Still, I can't be bothered ever flashing it. Like, I'm sorry, but if I was ever going to flash a hand sign for ID purposes, I would never use a hand sign THAT complicated.

In America, putting the military on the streets is seen as the next to last resort, second only to surrendering those streets and the citizens. Most people have forgotten how bad it was in in places in the late 80s. You had half a block burn because the fire department wouldn't go into a neighborhood for their own safety without the cops, and regular cops wouldn't go there during the day time, so at 2am, you've got to screw around for half an hour waiting for SWAT. Belfast at the height of the Troubles level bad. And we didn't put troops on the streets.
