About the 130mph chase.. there were 4 people in the car. The 35 year old driver ( the one who died), a 20 year old, 18 year old, and 16 year old. The original call was for shoplifting (they found items stolen from other stores in the car as well). The 35 & 20 year olds were deemed to be the shoplifters. The state police took over the pursuit at 04:26 (when he overtook the city cop), and they do not play around. It’s very risky for the cop to do a PIT at those speeds, for everyone involved (as you saw on the Arkansas 109mph PIT maneuver video that you watched). But, that suspect at any minute could have easily hit an innocent person/family on the road (as has happened too many times). So I’m glad the state police ended it. It’s unfortunate to die over shoplifting. Due to the death and conflicting information from the other occupants of the car, no one was charged.

I once had to stop while an officer deployed a spike strip - it was a 2-lane road, and the road curved and dipped just before the spot he set up - so, the driver had no time to avoid the spikes. Good knowledge of, and use, of terrain.

Spike strips are not deployed indiscriminately by any officer/trooper. At least, from the state where I was a law enforcement officer (now retired), a police officer must be trained and "certified" in their use. Additionally, their use must be sanctioned by the shift commander (or supervisor) and they can only be used in specific circumstances with regard to time of day, type of road system (local or highway), number of other vehicles in proximity. In other words, a lot of factors must be considered before "approval" for their deployment is granted. Also, a lot of radio coordination has to be applied to assure the police cruisers following don't get spiked when strips are deployed. The same applies to Pit-maneuvers. Officers must be trained and "certified' in conducting pit maneuvers and then sanctioned by the shift commander. This would explain why in some videos, you see the lead police cruiser overtaken by a second cruiser that then performs the pit-maneuver. Usually, each shift has an officer (or officers/troopers depending on department size) who is certified in these things. Of course, different states can have different guidelines for their use and/or deployment. BTW, the type of spikes depends on the manufacturer (some may be like thick razor blades, others like normal metal spikes). When it comes to pit-maneuvers (high speed or otherwise), you also have to take into account the potential danger to the public should the perpetrator escape. Sorry for the dissertation but these things cannot be explained in one or two sentences. ;-) Peace.

I believe that on some of these spike strips the spikes are hollow to let the air out fast and not just instantly shred the tires up.

Spike stripes they have wrap ones now a days. Like they are barbed and once they hit they stay and they let go. They have holes in them to let The air out and with them still attached can wrap and help stop the car. This also helps stop the cop holding the end from being injured and to worry about someone else getitngnhurt

The only time police cannot use a spike strip, as far as I know, is when chasing a motorcycle. Spiking a motorcycle is considered deadly force. The spikes are like hypodermic needles, only bigger and stronger.

There is another system that is out there for officers to use , it's called the grappler system . It's mounted to the front bumper of the patrol car , and when needed the officer hits a button , it extends out , wraps around the rear wheel and they can safely bring the suspects vehicle to a stop ( and no , suspect vehicle cannot take off after )

Kabir the chase was a mother 37, her 3 kids (20… 18… &15 yes old) from Memphis Tennessee, robbed a Dollar General store, a persuit ensued, with Arkansas police, and Arkansas stat highway patrol. The mother was driving the getaway car that was “pitted”. The three kids were charged with negligent homicide, the mother/driver was dead at the scene. There was a Glock 30 was recovered with a spent shell casing & a bullet in the chamber. I have the entire video if you would like it forwarded.

As far as your spike strip comment brother, I’ll help you out a bit, So…Every single police department in the USA is different. Every department has their own set rules/policies. I know from many departments where I’m at, spike strips or as they’re called “stop sticks” can be used at any point during a vehicle pursuit as long as it does NOT pose a safety risk to innocent civilians. AND if your particular police department even allows it…Some do not. Essentially what I mean by that is if you’re alone and no other civilian could get hurt, you can spike them! However, each state and each department have their own set of “rules” and “policies” if that makes sense.

The silver car was a bunch of shop lifters but the clerk at the Dollar Store told police it was an armed robbery so the police chased them like violent criminals. The people in the car where 35 year old Lakita Davis, 20 year old Tacrorion Golden, 18yr old Tania Jackson and the 16yr old died at the scene . None of the family's blamed the police, they are suing the Dollar General store because of the cashier calling in a violent armed robbery, the case is still on going ,right now.

It's the PIT maneuver that is 35mph or less. Spike strips can be deployed at any speed. The latest invention is called the grappler where the cop's car "ropes" the back tire of the suspect's car. (kind of like cattle roping)

Why use spike strips at all. It's possible to use EMP to kill the cars electronics. Police could have an EMP gun to just kill the car they are chasing.
@hardtackbeans97902 жыл бұрын
I hadn't heard of the EMP system in years. Where a cart is run out in front of the patrol car & under the suspect. Then capacitors release a huge charge to fry all the electronics? Last I heard they were trying to work the bugs out of it.

@@hardtackbeans9790 E2V RF Safe-Stop is for cars. It transmits a non-lethal microwave energy pulsed beam which couples into the vehicle's electronic systems to confuse the engine management system, temporarily deactivating the engine. This actually works. I knew a guy who was kind of a wizard with small electronics. He was playing around with just regular microwave ovens and he could stop a car engine. The dude was out there. He had something like 6 satellite dishes in the 90's. He was just pulling down raw video off satellites. He made all his money on roller stocks. Apparently the military put some serious cash into a program to zap smaller drones out of the sky. The drone killer affects class 1 and class 2 drones without the use of broadband jamming at a range of up to 800 meters. Not sure if this would work on cars but it might.

You will be happy to know, I saw my first hot pursuit in Fort Worth Texas in years, today. It was at a mundane speed not much above the limit of streets just south of downtown. Wish I could have grabbed a video for you, Kabir. It was all over & out of sight, as I was walking but it was 4 cops in SUV's after someone. I can almost imagine the blood veins on your forehead bulging out now. LOL!! 2:56 35 or below can't be right. Once they pierce the tire, they stay in with very small holes to let the air out. This would be safe at any speed (within reason) I would think. 5:08 A pit maneuver isn't idea at high speed. Endangering the officer is the big concern. But some runners are such a threat to public safety, they do it anyway. 5:53 No knowledge of how it ended. But you can bet the purp had severe injuries at least. Like a drunk waving a gun in a crowd, endangering the public isn't taken lightly. Thank God the cop wasn't flying off the road.

The spikes are hollow, like giant needles. This allows the air in the tires to escape through the tube and deflate the tires. Otherwise, the puncture would just seal right up and prevent air from escaping
