One fun fact not mentioned in the video. The US Navy is the world’s second largest Airforce. He mentioned that it was massive but this helps put it into better perspective. So the USA has the largest navy, and the two largest air forces in the world. He also breezed over the Army Special Forces and Delta Force which are comparable to Navy SEALs and SEAL team six respectively.

My dad was army, then when discharged promptly signed up for the Air Force. The latter was in the '60s. I loved hearing him talk about those branches. My mom's brother and several uncles were Navy. But, bar none, the Marines were and still are my favorite branch. When I expressed an interest in joining the US military, I told my dad I wanted to join the Marines. My dad was so proud of me. But my mother put the kibosh on that idea right away, no ifs, ands, or buts, non negotiable. There was no way, over her living or dead body, was a daughter of hers going to join any branch of military! I begged dad to try to make her see the light and allow me to follow my military desire, and he tried, but nope, no way. Mother held her ground. It didn't happen. I love the Marines. They forever have my support and admiration.

What’s even more crazy about how powerful and influential the United States is for the world; our country isn’t even 300 years old yet. When compared to other countries, like our main competitor China, which is over 4,000 years old, we’re in our infancy as a country

yeah not even the roman republic came remotely close. and they took 500 years to gain significant influence on all of europe, much of the middle east, and much of northern africa. the last country to have this kind of global influence was the british, and their empire took several centuries (early 1500s to early 1900s) to form. the us conversely took only about 100 years to do the same, and it didn't even need to gain total governmental control over nearly as much.

that doesnt scare me,,,its a reassurance,,and very few gun accidents with those 11 million snipers with powerful rifles and pistols and sneaky hunting and hiding skills. Hunting of deer moose antelope elk crow ground hog feral hog fox and many others are training grounds for snipers. Many of them have no problem with target ranges of 1/4 -1/2 mile. Lets see how other nations armies compare to our simple good old boys out in the woods hunting on their days off. They have been doing this since they were 8 yrs old with their dads and uncles. That's scary? 11 million gun owners and 99.9999% of them never killed a person but people/Government want to take guns away... and then rely on the (defunded) police to come in time to save them?? Pfffft - dont think so ... and, besides, ask Austraila (which cannot have guns - at all) why they have bad guys with guns killing people.... bad people will get guns and honest people are going to be killed... I suppose we should take away knives since almost 2,000 people were killed with knives... or cars becasue they drive through parads and kill people.

While calling the U.S. a democracy is incorrect, to say the U.S has a democratic form of government is correct. More accurately, the Constitution establishes a federal democratic republic form of government. It is a union of 50 sovereign states (making it a republic), lead by chosen people (representatives), which are voted on by the people (democratic). The people government themselves - that alone makes it a democratic form of government.

Yes, every soldier has to take a physical fitness test every six months. Which consists of push ups, sit ups and a two mile run. You also have to qualify with your assigned weapon every 6 months. And once a year you have common tasks testing which consist of things like putting on your gas mask, taking apart and putting together your weapon, using a compass, reading a map and probably more.

When they mentioned Seal team 6, that was actually a picture of a different Seal team that took part in Operation Redwings. During the operation they were ambushed and tragically 3 of the 4 man team were killed in combat. The movie Lone Survivor with Mark Whalburg is Marcus Luttrell’s (the lone survivor) account of the operation, you should watch it if you haven’t seen it already, and possibly do a reaction to Operation Redwings if you find a good KZbin video on it!

Well, my comment here is... "What the Bloody Hell?!" The narrator just referred to the "USAF" as the "Army" or an "army" when they've been a separate branch for decades now! It's a peeve of mine when people say "army" to cover every branch of our military as if it were all the same. Bug anyway, so far, there aren't as many movie clips in this one, compared to others. One that I've seen uses scenes from the movie "Battleship" for example. 😮

I served with other several other militaries overseas. The closest ones to us were the Royal Marines. Unfortunately, they don't have the same funding or equipment that we do. It’s also because it’s A LOT more expensive to start production than it is to just buy a few more vehicles. If the plants making Abraham’s for example shut down then they shut down. If you want to make more tanks you have to rehire and re train and re tool. Cost much more than just buying a few more tanks. Obviously there are other reasons like you said but it’s not all just about inside deals. I’m not sure about other vehicles but ik that’s a big reason we keep buys Abrahams even tho we don’t need them.

Lewis: No, we don't have a thousand F-22 Raptors. Not even CLOSE. We have only 195! What we have "more than 1,000 of" is the F-16C Eagle. Those will eventually be replaced with the F-35A Raptor II. (The F-35B variant will be used by the Marines, replacing the AV-8B Harriers, and the F-35C variant will be used by the Navy, replacing the F-18 Hornet.) To quickly explain what "supercruise" means: Most fighter jets cannot go supersonic without using their afterburners. The way an afterburner works is to LITERALLY dump fuel into the hot exhaust. An F-16C with a full load of fuel can fly for about 2 hours. If you use the afterburners, all that fuel will be gone in about 15 MINUTES. That's why jet fighters only use afterburners in an emergency (e.g. evading enemy missiles or other situations where rapid acceleration is needed). The F-22, however, can go supersonic at just 50% throttle. It doesn't need afterburners to do that. The result is that the F-22 can fly further and faster than any other jet fighter with a similar fuel load. A nautical mile is about 0.87 miles. (EDIT: It's 1.15 miles.) This means that the B-2 bomber has a range of about 6,900 miles (6,000 nautical miles or 9,600 kilometers). The B-2 Spirit and B-52 Stratofortress are going to eventually be replaced with the B-21 Raider. In regards to the Navy SEALs... the video makes it sound like a LOT of recruits die during training. That is just NOT the case. In reality, since the SEALs were first established in 1962, only eleven people have died in training. Let me repeat that: 11 people in SIXTY-TWO YEARS have died in SEAL training. That's an average of one every five and a half years. In each BUD/s class, 75 to 80% of the recruits drop out. And keep in mind, these people are ALREADY the best the Navy has... and 80% of them drop out of SEAL training. EDIT: There's no shame in dropping out. They simply return to their original unit.

They themselves have 2 or 3 carriers being retrifitted at any given time. And from the looks of it, they will replace the whole coning tower if need be with all new sensors and stuff like that. I guess if there's such an advancement in a certain tech, it's just as easy to replace the whole tower than to try to replace the smaller components within the older tower. But yeah, check out some of those Newport News videos. They're pretty interesting on their own.

Trained with and trained soldiers from other countries. It was hard, brutal and my body paid the price for it and I miss it. I wouldn't change my life for anything. I've lived more life in my time than most. I loved when we were able to do humanitarian work and get to know some of the people we were there to protect. I remember a time we went to this lodge in the middle of nowhere in the mountains near Yongin in South Korea. They sent a lot of people with physical and mental handicaps that were sent there to live because no one else would take care of them. We played games with them and they helped cook traditional Korean food for us. The look on their faces is unforgettable. With all the " war" its amazing to be able to share love with people we never met or even understood. Our military is more than war power. Unfortunately these days, people in our society has gone soft and the military members have fallen suit. I miss the days of how the military was in my youth.

When they say a military aircraft is "invisible" remember that air combat often involves guided missiles at extremely long range. The shape and materials used to make stealth aircraft make it almost impossible to see on radar. So you wouldn't even know they were there until they had locked on and launched an attack. Then you have seconds to try and figure out what's going on and respond.
