The Fifth Element is a timeless movie. It was one of the first live-action movies to mix cyberpunk and action-adventure together, as opposed to the classic noir style of the sub-genre.

@@iron-thorne I also fail to see how this movie is cyberpunk; no digital implants, no computers everywhere, not really dystopian... Space opera is a perfect descriptor. Edit: there are some implants on the lab techs, I guess. Not sure it’s enough to classify it as cyberpunk.

The Fifth Element is one of the best movies ever made. It has it all, a great script, awesome cast playing fantastic characters, mesmerizing sets/costumes, action, adventure, cgi, special effects, comic relief and romance. The cinema photography is brilliant, the soundtrack is captivating and the editing is second to none! A truly spectacular film in every way! I've watched The Fifth Element more times than I can count and it has yet to get old. Glad you took the time to watch The Fifth Element. My favourite Bruce Willis films are: The Sixth Sense(1999), Unbreakable(2000), followed by Split(2016) and Glass(2019) ( it's a trilogy ), then Sin City(2005), 12 Monkeys(1995), Die Hard(1988), RED(2010), 16 Blocks(2006). And another good film by Luc Besson is Leon the Professional(1994), also with Gary Oldman and he's very good in that. Edit: Bruce also had good roles in: Tears of the Sun(2003), Surrogates(2009), Tom Hart's War(2002).

Concerning its memories, they lead you to believe that because of its (her) dense genetic structure, memories and knowledge are the reason: genetic memory. From birth, let’s say, she would already know everything she needs to complete her mission. What she wouldn’t know would be local knowledge (cultural) but could learn at an accelerated rate.

So director Luc Besson released "The Fifth Element" in 1997, showing how he imagined the 23rd Century on Earth. 20 years later, in 2017, he released "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets", which takes us further into the interplanetary future of the 28th Century. "Valerian" got panned when it came out, but then it also took a while for "5th Element" to be understood and accepted when it was first released. And both films grow on you with each time you watch. I would recommend you do a reaction to "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets", if only to see how director Besson's vision had developed over that 20 years.

Hee hee, before Rush Hour Chris Tucker really jumped his career as the flamboyant radio personality. 😊 The opera singer who played/voices the Diva declared it was impossible to do without electronically enhancing it. Since then the infamous Diva Dance has been performed on The Voice and various Got Talent shows. They created Lilu’s language for this film and even how she didn’t breathe in middle of a sentence to make her even less human in her manner. Worth Re-watching to catch the fun bits. 😊

Kibir, what made you think the President was on a space ship? He is and throughout the whole movie on Earth in his office/command center. When he talks to his Admiral/General (on the ship) he is doing so via radio not face to face as he would do if he were on the ship with the Admiral. Bruce Willis has done many great movies, he started his career on a TV show (Moonlighting) but really didn't become a movie star until he did his breakout movie 'Die Hard". My favorite movies by Bruce in my opinion are: The Sixth Sense, The Fifth Element, 3 Die Hard movies (1, 3 and 4), Pulp Fiction, Unbreakable, Sin City, The Whole Nine Yards and Red. Other people love "Die Hard", or "Armageddon", but this movie, or "12 Monkeys" or maybe "Hudson Hawk", or "Sixth Sense", is my favorite Bruce Willis movie. Probably "12 Monkeys", honestly, but I do love love love this movie.

Bruce Willis is probably best known for the "Die Hard" movies, all 6 of them.

RED is hilarious. 12 Monkeys and the 6th Sense are also classics.

Fifth Element is one of my favorite sci fi films. Reminds me of one of my favorite animes Outlaw Starr or Cowboy Bebop. Plus it also has a little flavor of where I believe the creators of mass effect got the idea from

There's a lot of this movie that is very very much random. But the design elements, the costuming, the creation of an entire world, and the mix of comedy and action make this a classic.
