What happened with Elijah is unacceptable. That poor young man was murdered simply because he didn't conform to norms and some whiny person called 911 because they didn't like his mask. To say the LEOs overreacted is a gross understatement. They used a carotid hold on him and then expected him to not move while his brain is being starved of oxygen. WTF!? If you see the entire video of the encounter Elijah McClain had with the officers, it enraging & heartbreaking at the same time. I have no idea why they were off the bat so aggressive with him. The dispatcher never said he threatened anyone or was a danger. He didn't respond at first to commands because he had his music on & was turning it down when they accosted him. He told them he was a introvert & was just going home. In that sentence alone, you could deduce that he communicated in a different manor. But they never asked questions, just issued commands & escalated unnecessarily. He was just a young man headed home, a young man that played his violin for the animals at the animal shelter. It just NEVER should have happened.

The cops may not lose the case in the first video. The guy was stupid to still have his gun on him when the cops arrived. The first thing my cops friends told me is never be near a gun when and if police arrive at your home. Some years ago, I had to call the police to my home because someone in my home was going crazy due to medical reasons. When the cops arrived at my door, they needed to see my hands before talking to me. One of the three cops at my door thought that the phone in my hand was a weapon. Once they realized it was a phone, everything calmed down, but for the first 20 seconds after arrival every cop there was on edge because domestic disturbance calls are one of the most dangerous calls for cops and firefighters

I think police are just completely wrong in how they handle these things. They should all be handled like the last video. Violence was used within seconds of these encounters here. The first one the police already had their guns on him and the guy was probably freaking out more than they were. They shot way to early, if anyone else would have taken that shot they woulda been charged with 2nd degree murder.
@Tator-cp2ii5 ай бұрын
People always ask "why do they need so many officers for one guy?". But, when things go bad, they ask "why didn't he wait for backup?". You can't have it both ways. If you want police to have to beat the crap out of someone in order to get the cuffs on, then you don't need more than one or two guys. But if you expect them to arrest people who fight them and refuse to comply, then you need more people. You actually need more to bring them in unharmed if they refuse to come peacefully. Frankly, if cops went back to billy clubs if the suspect didn't comply, more would comply and go peacefully.

Ski mask guy didn't comply he resisted the officers, and he was the subject of an investigation. Im not condoning their behavior, but the call was more than a suspicious person. The moral to these 4 cases is don't put your opinions in a 911 call, don't use 911 for revenge and always give rational facts that the average person can make a reasonable conclusion and things like this wont happen. You started saying what he had done? What did the drunk woman on the bridge do besides yelling at traffic and flipping them off? Nothing and out of nowhere, she turned lunatic. The guy who got overdosed the cops was cleared, but the medics got nailed for involentary manslaughter. The first one I had to think about before I answered. When you are armed and cops are yelling directions, you don't adlib. Get on the ground like they say and when they come to cuff and search you you can tell them about your gun you dont know if hes going to try and draw while his shirt is up so no. The cops can't wait besides the moment he lifted his shirt his hand motioned towards the gun. He wasn't reaching for it, but when you motion to it, you're in trouble especially after you have allegedly shot someone already.

Kabir, think of a country the size of Europe. There's going to be all kinds of scenarios. The vast majority of LEO are good. But when they get bad calls, are in the heat of things it can get sketchy. They have to make split second decisions. Far too many cops are killed in the US than all of Europe would be my guess. There is going to be a few bad cops or poorly trained cops but the ratio is still very good for police doing a good job. People with mental health issues are hard to second guess when they don't know this upon dispatch from 911. Then if they struggle with the cops during an investigation it just goes bad fast because in the US we have far too many violent citizens with guns it seems. But yes again as you said these are rare cases. I feel very safe around police because I know that you must obey their commands when they arrive at a scene. I know that if there are issues that I have regarding how they act or whatever, I know that I will have my day in court. Fighting or struggling with the cops will never end well. Why can't people just can't wrap their heads around this simple thing. Being that there are millions of calls a year I'd say that we have a decent police force in the US.
