I can tell you what happened. Even the day before the Finnish final, I wrote somewhere "they're not going to win." I personally was 100% sure to vote for another contestant, to the second I opened the voting app. But then me like many others just had to vote for this against all odds because it was the best performance. It is not a serious competitor neither a conscious protest choice. They just bring so much fun, happiness and joy, to all the people who are able to have a purely silly, kind-hearted laugh. There is also the 90's nostalgia, and actually many thoughtful artistic choices behind the seemingly very light exterior. ☺

Exactly the same for me! I thought I'd vote for Sini or maybe Sara but then these mf:ers just came out of nowhere and were SO much better than all the others. No other stage show was up to scratch and none of the vocals were ESC-winning quality. 🤷‍♂️ So this year we're purely here to entertain, none of us think we can win. So enjoy this little moment of levity. 🌈

CK was my fave (and did vote for them) even when I saw this live in rehersal, I knew it's going to win (maybe Sara, which would not have been bad choice either). Our trackrecord with ballads.. is bad. Finns love these kind of songs. 90s music fandom is HUGE and this really tickles us who loves 90s eurodance.

This is the song I always wanted to win UMK personally, but I knew there were some other songs that had better chances. However, on the actual day, during the actual show, all of the other performances sort of let everyone down. Nothing was bad at all, Finland is too good at it now, but none of the other entries blew anyone away. And then, No Rules! came in as the final performance, and everyone was so ready for the change in energy, the whole crowd became convinced and fell in love. It was amazing to watch their last-place jury score suddenly become a victory in one moment when the televote came in. The people spoke, and we did it again during the Semi-final!

WOW at a loss of words, either this is a touch of genius or the weirdest thing I may ever have seen. The song did have great 1980/90s vibes to it. This was the first EuroVision I ever watched, I never imagined it to be such a big event, with so much effort put into it. It's liberating to see artists perform their art for the sake of art and not the mighty $$$. Am not too versed in Finnish culture/ music but the bizarre of it was worth watching. Even with PBS stateside this would have been heavenly censored. We can't corrupt the children with artists being nude, but it's OK with firearms in school. Have been watching your videos for a while, keep them coming. Educating, interesting and not what we see here.. Be safe..

Nah. It was just a fun performance and people liked it. The live performance worked so much better than the music video, and people voted en masse.

Actually the performance at UMK had everyone laughing so hard, people who had thought of voting for someone else, voted for W95M instead. I hope Sara Siipola will get to ESC one day though. This performance will be memorable though, which is critical at Eurovision. It is not a winner, but will bring a party and something different again.

I think it's good that Kääri didn't win, because I don't think Finland could have stand that victory. Käärijä mania went so far and over in Finland that the name Käärijä started to be attached to everything green, people try to sell everything green at a high price, and even "limen vihreä" (lime green) was officially renamed "Käärijän vihreä" (Käärijä green) in the Finnish dictionary. But perhaps the stupidest thing was that some Finns started coloring their pets green because coloring animals is not ethical, especially if it is done with spray paint. And the one thing that left me wondering the most was whether some random Finnish woman actually divorced her husband just because he refused to adopt the Käärijä hairstyle or was it an attempt to gain media attention.
