Iceland was named Iceland because the Viking who founded it, climbed a mountain and saw Icebergs in a Fjord(essentially a valley of water) and thus named it Iceland. Greenland was named Greenland because Eric the Red wanted people to settle there, even though its basically a giant ice sheet.

About your thing on Dinosaurs, someone actually came up with an idea of what happened if Dinosaurs evolved in parallel with humans and become intelligent cognitive beings. Then the people behind that idea tried to take that and insert into a movie they were working on despite the fact they were working with a previously established brand. And that mess ended up being the 1993 Super Mario Bros. Movie.

4:32 actually snowball earth & the Ice Age are two different periods in planetary history. During the Ice Age glaciers covered most of the northern regions of the major contacts but during snowball earth, around 600,000,000 years ago, the entire surface of the earth froze over. Luckily people weren’t here yet.

I know I’m pretty late here but I thought I’d impart some cool info on you. “Ghengis (or Chinggis) Khan” is actually a title. It means “Universal Ruler”. He was born Temüjin (or Temuchin) some time between 1155 and 1162 near Lake Baikal, Mongolia. He appointed his son Ögödei as his successor. The other “Khan” that many know of is Kublai Khan, who is Genghis Khan’s grandson, via his youngest son Tolui and his wife Sorghaghtani Beki. Kublai is also known by his “temple name” of Emperor Shizu of Yuan and by his regnal name of Setsen Khan.

Nice presentation. Stays away from controversial topics and sticks to accepted facts while staying opinion neutral. Which is better: capitalism or communism? Unimportant to detailing what different countries chose to do. Also, not Eurocentric. Manages to cover important events everywhere. Did fail to introduce Jainism properly, but all other major world religions have their moment of formation noted. Good stuff!

I found it very interesting that you said that over there you all pick what subjects you'd like to really start focusing on going forward, is that like for your eventual career path? I heard somewhere else recently that you guys also start University or what we'd call college I guess at a much younger age as well, I believe they said 16 if I'm not mistaken? I know things are done differently here than there and we're all used to how things are done in whatever country we live in so I'm sure it's not at all to you but to me that seems so young! I know that when I was in 9th grade and about that age, 15 or 16 years old, I had no clue what I wanted to do as a career when I got older so if I'd had to choose something then I really don't know what I would have chosen lol. I'd have probably just picked whatever I thought would be the easiest option whether it had anything to do with what I wanted to do later or not lol. I just wondered if people did what I would have done there too lol or if you all just have a better idea of what you want your ultimate careers to be at a younger age than we normally do over here or can you end up changing it later if you pick one thing and then change your mind and want to do something else?

The way I learned it in history was the Vikings and some of the other Settlers of Iceland and Graceland we're trying to get people to come and settle over there and so they tricked them by naming Greenland Greenland even though it's icy so people would come thinking it's nice and green and want to settle and Iceland they named Iceland even though it's green so people would stay away from there and go over to Greenland thinking that that one was the cream place and want to settle there I know complicated.
