And for starting it in the first place... Gaza still has (old) British laws part of the British Mandate Criminal Code. For example "Same-sex sexual activity is prohibited in Gaza under the British Mandate Criminal Code Ordinance 1936. The relevant provision carries a maximum penalty of ten years’ imprisonment. Only men are criminalised under this law." It's not enforced but was also never changed. British military trained the militias carrying out the ethnic cleansing in 1948, when the British military up and left after setting the conditions for the nakba.

It's politics and the way of the world. There are not good states and bad states, all states are run for their own benefit. Its how power worked throughout history why would it have suddenly changed yesterday? You don't have to think that it's good but you should understand your freedoms and liberties are granted by the success of the state you live in, and support it accordingly. This is a sovereign base I.e. one of two areas of land that belong to the British armed forces and have done since Cyprus was a colony. The Cypriot Government gets no say in what flies in or out of those territories.
