Hi George, another great story, well filmed and both you and Eric make a good duo. Nice to see him out and about again. I live about 1/2 mile from the Ferry pub and know the area quite well. I have cycled down to spike island many times but not for some time. Inspired by your film me and my partner went down today, really enjoyed it. The square water feature at Spike Island is the first railway dock that was used to berth sailing flats to load from the canal/railway to be transported to Liverpool and onwards.At low tide there are some flats exposed sticking out of the mud. Really enjoy your films as a Scouser now living in Penketh, keep it up and best wishes to Etic.

The buildings on Spike Island were old stores for the factories. You can see the foundations of the factories around them. All the paths were train lines taking goods towards the canal and onto the rest of England. Up until last year I'd walk the canal and it makes me sad to see how they've left it to dry out. Another piece of history decimated.

The feed for the canal was at the start of your video, theres a concrete bridge goes over the canal with a pipe directly below it that dumped water from the towers into the canal.
@g2emedia19772 жыл бұрын
Ahh cool i had an idea that pipe was for something i seen wagoms going over it aswell Thanks for the info and thanks for watching

Hi George delighted to see Eric back exploring again,so sad to see the canel so neglected it shows what impact to the environment it has when the power station stop pumping water in if nothing done soon it could be to late for the canel l have seen it so bad, some of the boats likely the now abandoned as you said it's expensive for them to be removed. Loved the drone footage very interesting and informative thanks for sharing 👍

Once again amazing bit of history being left to decay. The amount of boats on it shows how viable it was. Check out bee here now blog about this. Thanks for showing even you can have drone problems. Really rocked the wellies/ leggings look. And finally naughty Eric.. ( but v funny )

The buildings on spike island are old kiln's, & all the rubble under the new bridge was put there by Mersey gateway for a temporary road while building the new bridge, so much for their £4M environmental impact study! & The boat club have known for a few years what was going to happen regarding the water dripping and they have chosen not to move them?
@g2emedia19772 жыл бұрын
Ahh cool cheers for the info I did think it was from that temp road they built i seem to remember it being gated off whilst under construction I spoke to a guy who said the same they have known for ages and they just expected it to be sorted by now but are now worried fhe boats will become stuck
