Well i rent from private landlord 1350£ pm, my housing doesn't cover it all, I pay 250 extra pay month, the ceiling leaking n caved in, leaked for 4 years. Nothings been done n I have a 5yo. Landlords don't care mate.

@@shazanakhan9807 check if he has a property licence through the local authority but I doubt it, if he’s not doing repairs, my landlord didn’t, the licensing enforcement officer visited due to disrepair he has by law to fix the disrepairs don’t worry about threats of eviction he is breaching his tenancy agreement with you, if he doesn’t sort things out it can cause your landlord a lot of problems I know from experience.

If you can't see that as beachfront property I dont know what to tell you lol Sure its not my home state of California and its def not my city san diego but the fact you can see the sea from your bedroom is perview to make a living! I would completly renovate one those bungalows( just like in u.k theyre everywhere here in california where its near a beach) and add a room and bathroom if possible then rent it out to a neighbor! Thats how you build wealth ! despite being on benefits, or has we call it in the state welfare, you pool resources and help your neighbor. Some of it is their own fault though. There's a saying "You can take people out of slums but you can't take the slum out of people. Some you could put in a palace and they would wreck it up. Then there are people who would make a palace out of a slum. Instead of drinking, drugs, and tattoos they could spend some money cleaning things up. Some people just won't take responsibility for their own actions. Probably the landlords think it would be a waste of money doing repairs to the properties because the tenants would look after the property anyway.

These people are doing their best in the situation they find themselves in. I think they are all facing their hardships with a lot of courage. In my small city here in Canada, the public libraries all have condoms and feminine hygiene products in the washrooms. It is a small thing to help the many people who can't afford these products. It is very expensive to live here. I rent a single bedroom for 1000.00 dollars a month, and I consider myself to be very lucky. I wish a happy and peaceful life for them all. I feel immensely lucky for the life that I have, I was born into a working class family and we had all of the essentials (a home, a family car, occasional holidays to a caravan park etc). Some people get a really bad roll of the dice and end up in places like Jaywick... where there seems to be a neverending cycle between lack of jobs/opportunirty and a lack of hope. Some of the people that are featured on this documentary genuinely do want to help themselves, but seemingly cannot get the support they need to do so... There are of course some that just don't want the help and are 'happy' with the setup that they have.
