Cheers really appreciate that. Someone mentioned your channel to me yesterday and I checked it out. You have some great videos yourself, really clear explanations and well presented. Hope it continues to grow.

@PoolSchool Thanks, that's very kind. I had no idea how it would go and would've been happy if it helped just one person. I'm just happy to be helping folks and hopefully growing pool a little 👍

Nice review. When I choose a cue - 9.5 mm tip 18.5oz 57 inches. Tapered butt end (don’t like rounded). Also finish has to be natural so that it doesn’t become “sticky” in high humidity. And centre split. For me the 3/4 split makes the butt end feel too heavy.

Congratulations on the sponsor. Pretty big step for you and the channel! Unfortunately I don't think I could buy a cue without holding it in my hands first, I've been looking but places to shop are surprisingly few and far between
@PoolSchool10 ай бұрын
Cheers. Yeah it’s not easy to find places. What about a pool hall? My local one sells cues so you can try them out first.

Hi, Whats your feelings on cue length some say shoulder height some say just under the chin ?
@PoolSchool8 күн бұрын
It's more to do with arm length. You could have long arms and short legs, so not necessarily just about your height. With your cue tip touch the cue ball and you elbow at slightly over 90 degrees is about where you want to be holding the cue. You ideally want your cue to then be a little longer than that, so that you have a bit to play with when you need to reach for shots.

as a player with a beard, I have struggled with Ash cues, the wider grain has snagged my beard mid shot!, I didn't know it was a thing until googling it!, Maple has resolved that for me.This obviously means no chevrons at all. I picked up a second hand John Paris Maple cue with a 6.7mm tip which i felt was too small so got an inch chopped off the pointy end, now it's 7.5. I'm really happy with it. Again personal preference!

I didn’t know that was a thing either! Good that you’ve found maple to solve it for you though.

Looks like a nice online shop, a lot of products and good prices. Unfortunally I'm from Spain and they don't ship here.

Can u use that size tip to play snooker not just pool 😊
@PoolSchool9 ай бұрын
Generally people prefer 9.5 to 10mm for snooker but as always it’s personal preference.
@Deadeye19672 ай бұрын
8mm for a snooker is doable just about, but the heavy snooker cue ball will put a lot of force on a small tip that could chip bits off of a tip especially a worn tip from my experience from when I used to play a lot of pool with 8mm and occasionally use it for snooker. it felt lightweight and not quite up to the task, and a constant worry of chipping the tip.

For a second there I thought you said a 300 lbs cue. Took me a bit to realise you meant the British currency.

😂 That would take one hell of a backswing!

I'm surprised they use ash. Those trees are considered junk trees in North America. It's nice to know they are useful for cues. Appreciate the videos
@PoolSchool10 ай бұрын
Generally shafts are either Ash or Maple with Ash being the more popular choice for Snooker and English Pool cues. They are both great woods for pool cues.
@nakkadu3 ай бұрын
As is great for cues, I don't know why Americans don't use it.
@cn37563 ай бұрын
@nakkadu we use maple mostly some are oak. The ash trees die fast out here and tend to be the first to have broken limbs and trunks. That's why I was surprised because I would think they would not hold up. But, maybe it ia the trees environment. Either way, glad it works for you folks. It's an easy tree to grow

A less expensive que slicker can scratch the que. Stick to using a dry toweling cloth. You never see a pro player with a slicker. Never buy a sponsored cue with a snooker players name on it. They are very often poorly made.
