Hi Mike, that ticking sound is from the speedometer. It is an easy fix. Remove the speedometer completely then pull out the rubber bung. Insert a small screwdriver into the speedometer drive and turn it. Look into the opening were the rubber plug was removed and you will see a small metal clip moving about. That is causing the clicking sound. A little bit of grease on the end of a screwdriver squeezed on to the loose metal clip keeps it quit. It does work. Did it yesterday to a clicking speedo. Cheers.

Making Land Rovers better. That engine will be good for 500'000km if it has regular oil changes. I totally agree with rebuilding rather than replacing with something you have no history of. All the little bits that wear out have been replaced and you found out so many things that had been mistreated, the clutch, engine mounts etc. There is nothing like a reliable diesel that starts on the button.

Britannica Restorations Ltd, they deleted them on the 2.8, didn’t they? Mid winter in Canada would be different, but you shouldn’t need the glow plugs for cold starts in summer or all year round in Europe. The trick is getting the fuel system airtight.

Being new to the channel and having watched and thoroughly enjoyed the whole series of videos of the 300Tdi rebuild one thing keeps crossing my mind, and that is your an Englishman presumably living in Canada, whose livelihoods is repairing and restoring Land Rovers. Is there a story behind this as I’m so interested in the story behind your career before leaving the UK and the reasons for moving to Canada. I really didn’t think that defenders were that popular that side of the world.
@BritannicaRestorations4 жыл бұрын
They are very popular but there is a 15 year rule that says vehicles cannot be imported under 15 years old so we get all the crap from Africa and Europe One day I will do a video one me!

Did (or do) you have a sign in the back window saying ''Running in'' as yer taking it easy on the new build? - Is that even required anymore? But, I'm more chuffed than a little steam train to see this out of yer shop. It now means you can get the Range Rover in before the snow arrives. (commented before 6 mins in, so you may have already mentioned these plans). Keep on keeping on! Dogue.

Maybe you do not know but the RR is on hold because we bought a full RRC in Maine USA just an hour away, for a full interior and parts we were missing, but timing was bad as the Covid1984 hit and the boarder was closed The owner who is American has decided to go down and pick it up with a trailer but will have to go into quarantine for 14 days to come back to Canada What a carry on!
@WhosAGoodDogue4 жыл бұрын
@@BritannicaRestorations - Ahh, I see. Y'know, you _may_ have mentioned that in a previous video, but I can't remember. It's been a while since the last RR video, and I've been engrossed in this rebuild. Aye, yer reet about the 1984, it's fecked things up all over the planet. It's a bit of a concern now that it's reached Lennoxville. Bloody kids/students, drinking and partying and not socially distancing. They think they're invincible. And then they travel all over and take the C19 with them. Us old buggers have to be careful now. And aye, that leather skirt _was_ a bit on the tight side. A bit short too if you ask me. Was more like a belt with a hem. Was she on her way to work the nearest lamp-post or street corner d'ye reckon? LOL. Lastly, instead of wearing a clarty mask, (the virus can stick to the outside gunk), would you be allowed to wear a face visor? Hmmm, failing that, howsabout walking into the shops wearing yer welding helmet? And lastly of lastly, if the RR is on the back burner, what's next then? Huh? HUH? (A well earned rest is my opinion, but rests don't pay the bills) All de best Bwana Mike. Dogue.
