Very informative. Thanks for sharing. I’m replacing a damaged condenser in my 2011 90XS and hoping it will work after a vacuum and recharge.

Another great and very practical video. Thanks Mike! It’s 39 degrees here in Western Australia today. I think I need to get to and work out how to fit my air Con in the Defender. Haha!

Triary SWITCH. Always in the High side after the compressor before condenser and will have 3 wires (usually) Cuts system out when charge is too low and also if pressure is too high.

As always interesting. I was hoping that you’d have an electrical issue on a Puma, that I could learn from. Good tip about checking pressure before paying an arm and a leg for a charge that might not ne necessary. Off to my favourite online store to buy more tools 😁

Mike, I'm with you on those Bull bars, my Disco came with one, I set about cutting all the crap off the top bit, I wanted to keep the winch so I had to keep the "bumper bar" section. At least now I can work along the front of my truck. It looks better too...

Good video, got my AC topped up a couple of years ago on my D2 and it's not blowing cold now, local garage charges £60 now compared to £40 then, so I might check my belt first, might have gone Slack Alice.

I found on D2's the A/C pipes rot where they are clamped to the body - corrosion between the rubber surround and pipe

Interesting you talk about using the AC in winter there to just keep in good condition.. though not really needed in Winter... One of the things an AC does with air is reduces the humidity.. so I use here in conjunction with the heater to demist in winter... works so much better than just warm air... so I use my AC in winter anyway. I have to say, I don't think my winter here is quite as harsh as in Canada.... Christchurch NZ here... not all that cold really here in winter, but still cold enough.

You are so right, saw a Bull bar destroy across the whole front of a Toyota, when the minor collision it had should have only damaged the left front fender. They are pointless, weighty, expensive add on junk...

I don't have a Defender, but I have 2 Discos. I never turn the AC off. It keeps everything lubed up and has the added advantage of keeping the windows demisted always. Same with my daily driver Ford. Of course, these cars have "climate control".......

You should use your ac about once a week atleast to stop the seals from drying out and failing. When people get their ac "recharged" it normally all leaks out again because the seals are buggered.
