When you consider that even when this was filmed, Hyacinth (Patricia) was well into her 60s, all that running around + climbing over things she did was actually quite impressive!

I know, not to mention the cast of "Grace and Frankie" with some @ 80! Actors may be high energy, but they all prove age is just a number. Jane Fonda wiggled through a dog door! Barbra Eden even is 90 and looks better/more vibrant than just about everyone too! I think it also shows if you love your job perhaps that also keeps you ageless. Patricia does not look like she's even 60, mid 50s tops, maybe even 40s. She's so lively too!

I will always enjoy Patricia's acting during the scene with Violet "You cannot idly abandon marriage, Violet." It was like a switch was clicked on and Patricia did a slight change in her delivery....her tone....everything. It was a nice little scene. I think it was the episode when Hyacinth purchased a pair of snow skis for Richard.

There are some nice subtle moments like that throughout the series. I enjoy that they are rare and we're not beaten over the head with them, but that they still exist. In another episode, after Rose has been through another heartbreak and Hyacinth has told her off, she then calls Rose to her and gives her a kiss on the cheek. In the episode where Onslow and Rose are broken down outside Hyacinth's house and Councillor Mrs Nugent calls Onslow "some kind of thug", for a moment Hyacinth's expression is pure rage on behalf of her brother-in-law, rather than embarrassment. Richard occasionally does smile fondly at Hyacinth when she's excited and kisses her. Then there's also just the fact that however irritating they find her, every one of her sisters calls Hyacinth first when they have a problem they need solving.

What a show...Lucille Ball paved the way for females sitcom legends and for years I I have been maintaining that Patricia rutledge's hyacinth is the British version of Lucy Ricardo. Granted there characters are different in many ways but as far as the comedy the timing and the physicality Lucy and Hyacinth are tops!
