Hey Brian! Thanks for the informative video, but in my personal opinion Revo Uninstaller is abit shady in my experience of using it, so instead of that I would recommend an Open-Source Program like BCUnistaller its free, its clean, and its open-source; you can never go wrong with open-source programs! I purchased the same laptop last October except mine came with an Intel CPU. So far, it's been spot on with speed and no hiccups. Hello! I have the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro RTX 3070 140w. I think you've mistakenly pointed out about that Turning on Hybrid Mode, actually it saves battery and uses the integrated GPU. As such, lower FPS and uses Freesync instead of GSync. Turning it off makes the High Performace GPU directly connect to the monitor and thus enables GSync.
@fleshpistol9 ай бұрын
Yeah, I just posted the same thing. He completely waffled the difference between Hybrid and Discrete mode. You never want to be on Hybrid unless you are at work with multiple monitors. Gamers will always need to be on Discrete mode to isolate the GPU as you have said. I was kinda mind blown when he was saying all that lol. He has no idea that he is not running his gaming laptops correct for gaming lol.

Excellent video Brian although in my opinion, the very first thing you should do when you get a new laptop is the software updates for the OS and THEN the bloatware and everything else you mentioned. Only reason i say that is because you 'may' have problems with the OS right out of the gate and if you don't address them first with a software update it will just keep happening.

You forgot to mention one important thing that you must do when buying a gaming laptop. If its msi, lenovo, Asus navigate to the dedicated software of the laptop and set limit battery charge to a lower percentage than 100%, that the software permits. This preservs the battery capacity to degrade over time when gaming and having your laptop plugged in. I was not able to find a similar software for acer laptops. Maybe someone could help me with the name of it. For msi it's dragon center, for Lenovo it's lenovo vantage, for Asus it's My asus. Acer... Idk.

Rather than removing the bloatware manually, I'd much rather reinstall the OS. 1. Install Windows 10 2. Update Windows 3. Run Chris Titus' script to disable telemetry and mouse acceleration 4. Disable animations 5. Run a windows debloater tool and uninstall other unnecessary software 6. Image with Clonezilla. 7. Install programs as normal. Step 1 ensures that I have a clean OS. I have encountered persistent programs that reinstall themselves (I'm looking at you Asus) after uninstalling. Regarding step 4, I heard that animations eat into your battery life, and I prefer having a snappier OS. Step 5 removes the usual junk that Microsoft installs. Step 6 ensures that if I ever had to reset my laptop, I will always have a backup to revert to.

Same here. The first thing I did after I purchased by brand new ASUS ROG Strix G back in 2019 was perform a clean installation of Windows 10 Pro. After the initial setup all I had to do was download and install all the updates for the OS, apps and drivers, as well as declutter any pre-installed Windows apps that I don't use. Starting from a clean slate makes it much easier to deal with the computer in the long term, as it doesn't tend to misbehave nearly as much.

MY first step is to either yank the HD and do a complete "Original system HD image" which I call a "Pre First-boot Backup". The purpose of this is to be sure that if I ever sell it in the future (it could happen!) I can restore the original OEM image, and give the next guy "That fresh out of the box experience." You could also just swap in a fresh HD/SSD, so you don't have to worry about them "restoring your files", or simply so that you still have any files you may have forgotten to back up before the OEM reset. Been doing that for a good 20-odd years now. I've used Macrium Reflect for this for years...boot from a USB stick, do the backup to an external HD, and you're covered.

I don't really like windows updates to be honest. It messes with my laptop and makes It slower. I had to do a full factory reset on my laptop because of a Windows Update. I simply updated my laptop which for some reason made my laptop really loud. It told me to restart my laptop so I knew It was a big update. I then restarted It and then my laptop was not starting up. There was a blue background and at the top it said "Your PC couldn't start up correctly". I kept restarting my laptop but It didn't work at all. I then tried to do a reset which would keep my personal files but my password was not working, which was not my fault. My password was correct, it was my laptop which wasn't accepting It. This is why I do not like Windows updates. They deliberately slow down your PC so you can buy a new one. It's all business at the end of the day. My friend, my laptop eats too much internet data. In my phone i can restrict data for every app, so that data is only spent on the app i am using, but its so hard to do on the laptop. The thing is we get 2 gb of internet data per day and not have wifi connections. And that 2 gb is spent so fast in this new laptop, how dont know how to completely stop apps from not using my internet data in laptop. When i see usage it tells that system and windows experience feature pack and windows web experience pack, these 3 are mainly consuming all my data, i dont know what program in system is eating data, and windows feature and experience pack is nowhere to be found on laptop. Due to these reasons i am not able to utilise my 2 gb of data on chrome browsing because every second the consumption is increased and my data finishes, so i cant use data on laptop which is causing me problems. So how do i completely restrict internet for these unwanted apps in laptop?😢

i still image up the OS partition after I have finished tuning - so I can revert to a known good state without having to reinstall and redo the steps after a misfortune, its better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it...

Thanks for the video. Where do you get the script to disable the lock screen?
