My apologies for the issues with the camera focus in this video, I realised too late to re-shoot but I believe I know what went wrong.

We used to fold the jacket into that back internal pocket as it used compress it a bit more so you could stuff it into the 58 pattern large pack. That red stain probably means it was used for cas sim.

This looks very similar to the US Army's M-43 jacket that was first issued in the latter stages of WW2 in the ETO.

What are the small hessian type loops under the Braces Buttons used for? These were still on the last type that i wore in 1990.

I always thought that the use of the poacher pocket was to fold the jacket into it to make a pillow, shows how much I know!

And you are correct.

Another great video. Thank you. Looking forward to the 60:68 pattern comparison.

I have made videos on the latter patterns previously, they need updating though now production has improved a little.

seems very strange concept now, to hand your uniform back in after an exercise. Seems a bit labour intensive process of cleaning (maybe repairing) them for re-issue.

I remember handing in sleeping bags after exercises. Wet and in a big lump. 58 pattern warm as hell when you didn't want to be warm and freezing cold when you did.

I know of a NVA T72 Panzer Kommendier that was issued the Black Panzer Fielddienstuniform to wear for a parade as were others in his Company, they were buttoned up during it never seen, and had to hand it back in afterwards no matter how hard they tried to keep it..... all Armies have rushes of blood to the head it seems

@@davidbrennan660 i got issued some Soviet klm/Berezka Camouflage coveralls for one exercise.

No9 pattern was frequently just issue for short term use and handed back.

I came here expecting a battle dress uniform, I was mistaken. Still a nice uniform though.

Manufacturing was fantastic until mid 80's then fell off a cliff with cutbacks.
@bob_the_bomb45083 жыл бұрын
Yes I remember the mid 80’s DPM issue made out of teabag material, with those ghastly sticky-out pockets

I wish you blokes would look things up before posting crap comments. UK Defence spending actually increased in 1984 and has never been higher since.

Would this be worn over the battledress?
@RiflemanMoore2 жыл бұрын
No, it wasn't worn over battledress, at least not generally.

@@RiflemanMoore thanks for the response. Do you know what smock was worn by the marines during operation archery. I can’t find it anywhere. looks similar to a denison smock but without the camouflage
