For a decade I rode BA288/289 LHR-PHX three or four times a year... and every time I cursed that BA put its shabbiest, most clapped out 744s on that run. Now they're gone, I'd give a lot for one more ride.

I've been lucky enough to catch some landings on bus rides from downtown or when the school band had concerts at the TCA. I also had the privilege of taking this flight in July of 2010. But this is the first time I've seen a takeoff from what I think is the ideal perspective and with the ideal camera movement.

One of favorite planes of all time. The 747 Queen of the Skies. The most exotic plane of all time. Heartbroken to see her go from the production line after 54 years. She belongs in air. I miss hearing that unique rumble of her 4 engines on climb out. There's nothing like it or that can ever compare. She was a tough plane and built tough for just like the Boeing B17 bomber it took a lot of damage and still brought her crew and passengers to safety. BA flight 009 lost all 4 engines at 37,000 feet due to vocanic ash but nearing a sea ditching all 4 engines restarted and landed safely. The 747 is a LEGEND and an INSPIRATION. She is definitely an honor to see in the air. Boeing is making a grave mistake letting the Queen go.
