I've been kidding up until now with my previous comments, but in all seriousness, id like to applaud each and every one of these young men and women. Their time in the service is going to be very, very difficult, mentally and physically. They're going to be confronted with an increasingly apathetic and entitled civilian population and bewlidered by equally clueless politicians, while at the same time being expected to do far more with far less. I do not envy them one bit. You all have my sincere respect and gratitude.

You'll find politics will never enter their life as we know it, they'll just settle into Regimental life and be more concerned about other pressing things. like fitting in into their new sections , meeting their new NCOs, Troop Sgt and Troop Commander. They probably be sent on additional unit training to get them up to speed on unit SOPs, on the range zeroing their weapons and most likely sent on courses.

Politics will dictate when and with what they are trained, the conditions of their base housing, where they will see action, how they will be incentivized to remain enlisted or go on to become officers. Politics will determine the quantity and quality of the equipment and weapons they are issued.

I joined the army as a Junior Leader at the age of fifteen in 1966. I had a fantastic time and had a great career in the Royal Military Police. 3:19

At 2:41 - 2:51, I saw a couple of new soldiers wearing the maroon beret of the Parachute Regiment. Did those soldiers go to P Coy already? If not, how are they able to wear the beret and wings? Also, what is the beret flash behind the wings? Congratulations to the new soldiers!

They are not wearing any wings. They can wear the maroon beret, like many regular soldiers who are attached to air assault units.

A maroon beret does not mean the wearer is qualified as a military parachutist. From here, these guys go on to phase two in Catterick, and then the parachuting course.

Tracksuit soldiers will find it hard to get back into Regimental life and up for promotion, I noticed when I served they're away all the time doing their sport. If you want to do sports try avoid being away and concentrated on your chosen trade otherwise you'll be assessed on your sports but have a weakness in your profession.

@@markgomersall9847 I would like to thank you for your service I understand what you’re saying but I thought long and hard about this but I don’t know if you realise that another ex soldier has been charged with murder a shooting that happened in 1972 in Northern Ireland which would mean he is probably in is 70s has am I. To take someone’s life is a tragedy he probably has lived with for the last 50 years and now in the last years of is life they charge him with murder what makes it worse is as part of the Good Friday agreement the IRA murders can not now be charged with murder. I have nothing but admiration for those young men and women and hope they have a long and successful career but I just needed to bring this to the attention of people

Its baffling, really ... and, listening to the reasons given for joining, I would not say they sounded even remotely patriotic (jumping from a plane, fitness ... wtf).

Exactly UK has gone from about 96% native to just under 85% in just over 30 years. That is a lot of foreigners. You should expect to see at least 10% to 15% ethnic minority. None are wanting to and we are just protecting and paying for many foreign cultures not integrating or fighting for this country and only taking what they can from the system.

@@davidc4408deciding to go into the military is usually not about the person's culture (or race), but rather the benefits and the percieved military "lifestyle" that motivate young people to join in. In the US, for example, many who serve are first generation foreigners.

Doesn’t particularly matter what regiment you would be in you would all be taught the same drill as everyone else

English military uniforms looks so old fashioned these days, like from some WW2 era. At least the Scots still look and sound really great, along with their bagpipes tunes.

Nor is this a big ask, despite the current inability to attract even that many acceptable recruits. HOWEVER, the answer is VERY simple and rests merely on senior serving ranks recovery of THE BASIC WILLINGNESS TO TELL OUR REPUGNANT LONDON POLITICAL & CIVIL-SERVICE ELITES TO TAKE ALL THE LOATHSOME WOKE-CULT-SPAWNED NONSENSE THAT'S THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AND SHOVE IT WHERE THE SUN DOESN'T SHINE! ...AND THE SAME APPLIES JUST AS MUCH TO THE RAF AND RN TOO!

I'm x military please lower the standard and you will have 1000 enlisted junior soldiers. Every 16 weeks this would boost the defence of British isles. Lower the standard for regular soldiers recruits. Out of 100 infantry 40 pass 100 marines 30 pass 100 parachute regiment soldiers 25 pass. Royal navy 100 only 40 pass Air force regiment 100 only 20 pass. Let all the volunteers pass then when they get to their respective units training them up to standards. I believe Britain can enlist 500,000 regular soldiers if the standard is brought down. Not everyone l trained with glencoarse barracks Edinburgh made it due to high standards. Give them the extra training at their respective units and they would have passed. We need regular soldiers and junior soldiers right now.

China army growing USA army growing Russia army growing. USA if trump gets to be president will leave NATO. He said if NATO countries don't pay their debt he will encourage Russia to attack them. Britain has 197,000 soldiers just now. What armed forces number can Russia muster. Britain would be attacked by Russia from the north sea. Putin already told Boris Johnson x prime minister he would take British isles in 10 minutes. He also said one missles strike would end Britain. Then with trump threatening to leave NATO what do you think we need more boot's on the ground.

Also the government officials and political parties and leaders are wanting conscription. How many 18 to 20 years old male and female recruits would be willing to join the armed forces under pressure. They would hate the military discipline They could become adamant that they don't want to join the armed forces. They'd say I don't want to be killed for someone else war. With volunteers youths that is different they want to join armed forces to defend their country.
