I was very fortunate and humbled to have met and shook the hand of a World War Two Gurkha veteran and holder of the Victoria Cross at a military event back in 2002. God bless them all. 🇬🇧

The greatest of respect to all the Gurkhas. We were raised on my granddad telling us stories of how when he was captured by the Japanese in WW2, the Japanese sentries would refuse to go out on patrol if there was a rumour of Gurkhas in the area, they were so feared.

My Dad was with Gurkha's in Malaya 1962-65. On Security duty , he wondered for months how they knew so much , people in and out of camp . And lads seeking out for a few beers . They would have written reports every 12 hours .. After months on end they told him . We hide in the dustbins , and lay on the water tower , to watch the camp .

It's an over 200 years old relationship built from mutual respect borne out of the most ferocious hand to hand fighting imaginable, which if you tried to explain the history to an outsider is so preposterous that few would believe you, and yet its all true. If you type "Hallelujah" into the search box, look for the Ramesh Rai video of these British Army Gurkhas singing and reflect that these are the same soldiers who wouldn't wince at lopping the head off their enemy with their kukri.

God bless them all , as a Irish American, my Grandfather was a Royal Munster Fusilier Brigedeer , he lost his brother , in The Boer War , I’ve 3 Uncles in The Marines during Ww2 , of the 21 kids my grandfather had, 6 fought for The Irish Guards and 3 for Patton in Ww2 , The Gurkas are a great example of honor and duty and this video brings a smile to my face , God Bless them all keep them safe!

worked in Camberley and had gurkas, on gates, wot lovely chaps , ex served 4 us , I wish we wud allow more in, I bet they cud help our boat service too , they so humble lovely nd fight so hard I hear so skilled..welcome ❤🎉❤

Traditionally after selection they serve and send their wages back to their family in Nepal then after 22 years service are returned to Nepal as honoured veterans. So their objective is not emigration to UK rather an honourable career and improved family life in Nepal. That's the deal that the British Army offers and they accept. Alternatively the Indian Army has Gurkha regiments..
