When I was in high school in the 70's, every third vehicle in the school parking lot was a truck with a rifle rack. Nobody thought anything of it, super common. Rifles and shotguns (and sometimes a fishing pole) clearly visible through the rear cab window. People didn't break in and steal them, and nobody shot each other.

I went to high school in the late 80s & there were students who had gun racks in their trucks & guys who wore a knife on their belt. No one thought anything of it & it wasn’t illegal. Any fights I ever saw or heard about at school were fist fights, no one pulled out there knife & the idea of someone going out to their truck & bringing in a gun was unheard off. Glad I grew up in the time I did.

Most public bathroom stalls aren't too bad, and you would have to get close to try to look into one. People here don't generally do that either. If you can't tell if a stall is occupied, sometimes you might have to look towards the floor to see if there's feet in there. Otherwise, people usually leave each other alone in the bathrooms.

One thing to understand is the premise that in the US, guns are owned in order to not only provide self defense, entertainment, but foundationally, to provide some form of capability to stand up to the government/tyranny. I'm not arguing for it or against it but rather just stated the core premise.

Free refills don't have to be something loaded with sugar. It can be something like unsweetened iced tea (either because you like it that way or want to add your own sugar or other sweetener to taste), diet soda, or whatever. It is an uncommon option for a fast food place but most places will offer free refills of basic coffee so it isn't limited to just cold drinks. And it gets brought up often that a place can pay a tipped worker below minimum wage. 1. they don't have to. 2. If they do pay them below minimum wage and they don't get enough in tips for it to equal at least minimum wage for the time they worked that day the employer is required to pay the difference so they still make at least minimum wage. Depending on where you are in the country camo isn't just some sort of fashion statement and certainly not just because of the military as the video put it. There are a lot of hunters and military surplus stores and if you need some affordable and durable utilitarian clothing it can be a good option.

The "month before the day" thing is simple. If somebody askes you "What is the date?" your answer will typically be "It's July 23rd." Month before day. So if the person is writing the date, they can just write it in the order it was told to them. And most people would prefer to say "It's July 23rd" rather than "It's the 23rd of July".

Many pharmacies started out as the towns General Store. It was the "everything" store. Many used to have lunch counters and soda fountains. I have known more people, living on tip jobs, that want to stay on tips, than I have met that want off. A great server can really pull in some money. If tipping is removed from an establishment, I hope people are prepared for the increased cost of food and drink when the owners have to pay increased wages. In the end, a meal end up costing you more than what you would've spent with a tip.

WE are ready for the "increased costs". Really what would happen is that businesses who were just barely making it by paying employees 2 dollars an hour will shut down, and businesses who were making profit but not giving it to workers would be forced to. There's no real downside, just empty threats from business owners and the ones they've taken over with propaganda.

I'm all for paying higher wages if we discontinue tipping. I'm not doing both in case that's what's being considered. Many of the professional waitstaff will earn less money because of the high dollar amount of tips they receive. For those most impacted, before instituting any change, think it through carefully and beware of possible unintended consequences such as some people being able to dine out less often. Whatever is ultimately decided is okay with me. I just don't want to deal with moaning and groaning if they end up with "buyers' remorse." The tipping culture is exactly why you will get so much better service here in the states. If where you live your servers are going to make the exact same amount of money regardless of how well they do their job then there is little incentive for them to do more than the bare minimum of service for you. However in the states. Since amount of the servers tips are directly effected by the quality of service a customer receives. You naturally receive much better service in general. I worked as a server for years and I made really good money. Plus I genuinely enjoy interacting with multiple types of people. Just always remember that if your tipping with cash but paying your bill with a credit or debit card. Just be sure to Mark through the tip section on your credit receipt that stays with the restaurant. Leaving that blank just might encourage a less than honest server to add a really nice tip to the bill after you have left. And most people will never catch it a month later when they get their bill from the credit card company. Unless of course the server tried to make it a few hundred dollars worth. But they know a decent restaurant manager would flag such a large tip and investigate it. So you're more likely to get hit with an extra twenty dollars on your monthly bill which you either won't even notice or remember if you do notice weather you tipped that much or not. It's a real mess. So when I go out to eat. If I'm paying with a credit card and tipping with cash. I'll simply write the word "CASH" over the tip section of my credit card bill. Or I simply write in the tip on the credit card bill . But never leave it blank.

I am more shocked if people do not have a gun. It was a rite of passage that little boys got a rifle as a child. The shootings back then were rare. Mass shootings were not a thing. So, more open carry, less shootings. That is a fact. I have never known anyone to shoot someone or be shot with most everyone I know owning guns. My dad used to let us shoot as kids. You teach gun safety. The shootings today are mostly gangs. My brother is a police officer and a couple of Brits were sitting next to them at a restaurant outside, somehow guns came up and my brother said he had two guns on him. The Brits were shocked about that. He was exaggerating for fun. He had one gun on him hidden. Now that was funny. I have never been to a gender reveal and never will. Drinking age has not always been 21. It was raised from 18 to 21 in late 1980's. I was in college in early 80's and there was a LOT of drinking at my school -all legal. And for sales tax, if you buy something that your state would tax online or somewhere that does not charge tax, or less tax than your state, you owe your state a "use tax". Example, I live in NJ where sales tax is around 6.75%. If I buy something in say Delaware and pay 3% (numbers are made up as I don't know what Delaware's tax is, or if they even have one), I owe NJ 3.75% use tax. They want their cut of the action and you'll get fined heavily if you don't pay voluntarily. (But if I buy it in NY where the sales tax is higher, NJ does not give me the difference. The money only flows one way.) 😂 And metric? I remember being taught it in the 60's, and they said USA would be switching over. Never happened. Too much social inertia. Biggest place it gets used is 2 liter soda. 😂

#11, wearing shoes at home is common, but taking them off is not uncommon. Asking the preference of the hosts when visiting their home is fairly universal. #7, when I visited London in 1998, I walked by James Purdy & Sons, holders of a royal warrant to supply firearms (double rifles and shotguns) to the Royal Family since the 19th century. Their bespoke double rifles and shotguns are among the finest firearms in the world with prices to match. A year earlier, I was surprised by the number of Italian police in Rome carrying submachine guns. Most American police officers carry pistols and only go to their patrol vehicle to grab a carbine or shotgun if a particularly nasty situation is in progress. As an American, I've seen a few open carriers. I'm not particularly worried about them. If they were going to be a problem, they probably wouldn't be tipping off their armed status before the fact. As for concealed carry, again I'm not particularly worried as they can't cause any trouble while their firearm remains concealed. Despite what TV and the movies would have you believe, shootings are not common outside of a few bad urban neighborhoods. #1 - We use United States customary units, not Imperial units. Only some of the units overlap. The Imperial pint (~568 ml) is significantly larger than the US pint (~473 ml). The Imperial gallon (~4.55 l) is also significantly larger than the US gallon (~3.79 l). We no longer use the stone as a unit of weight. I learned about the metric system starting in elementary school and used it in science and engineering classes/courses. In everyday life, I have no compelling need to switch from American customary units. If I have to convert a temperature, distance, volume, or mass into metric (or from it), it is not particularly difficult. There are two types of countries in the world: 1) those which have landed men on the Moon and 2) those which use the metric system.

Selfish gun owners have made them so easy to get there in every nook and cranny so now not only do responsible gun owners have them, but our criminal population is heavily armed and any crazy man who wants to get his name in the news can find one whether he buy it from a store or steal it from a legal gun owner. There’s no realistic need for guns, except to protect yourself from all those other people who have gained firearms so if the whole country just started getting rid of them are country would be a much better place.

Rebecca is Canadian, not American. One of the best voice over voices on KZbin. I used to hear her on the bus; there was a system that played internet videos on a screen on busses. Long gone.

We were sitting in McDonald's one day, and a family, parents and two teenage kids came in. The dad paid for a large drink and they walked over to the drink dispensers. He drank and full cup, mom drank a full cup, then the teens did, all using the same single paid for cup. We noticed when they left they were driving a very nice SUV too.

Here’s my experience with tipping. I’ve lived in several states. Most of them the waitstaff only made a dollar or two an hour. This encouraged them to provide excellent service to get tips. Good waitstaff would make in excess of $300 a shift. That’s good money. Personally I am a big tipper for excellent service. I love to reward a strong work ethic. Now I live in a state where the service is horrific but the waitstaff expects you to automatically pay a 20% tip regardless of whether they did a good job or bad job. Come to find out in this state they make minimum wage at $15.00 an hour plus tips. Because they make money literally for just showing up the service is just atrocious. I refuse to tip 20% just for someone showing up and I will never be told what I must tip. Tipping is an option for me. I have refused to tip waitstaff a few times because of their poor service. Honestly the democrats have destroyed the service industry. They took a job that could support a family and turned it into something that doesn’t. Yet they still pretend to be on the side of the worker.

As to "tipping", I recently read a story of a new restaurant opening and offering servers $25 an hour and making a no "No Tipping" policy at the restaurant. The employees/wait staff were actually angry and stated they'd rather be paid less, because they make more on tips. So don't feel sorry for them. They choose this.

I wouldn't generalize it by saying, "They choose this," because many aren't afforded this choice. I & many people I know have worked in the service industry & have never been given a choice in the matter. Also, location & popularity play major roles in the ability to make more in tips than a set payscale, as certain days of the week & times of day factor into how many patrons may visit. Slow days/hours usually mean smaller staff for those days/times & a servers scheduled hours mean nothing if they get cut after a rush.

Yes, if we did away with tipping and paid waitstaff a "livable wage", they would make less. Mostly, it's people who are not in the service industry that are calling for a no-tipping culture.

I worked as a wedding bartender and it was normal to make $500 in tips in one night. Our biggest tip was a hammered father who threw us $5000 at the end of the night to split between 2 of us.

12:05 I just got a haircut this week and witnessed a new trend I heard about. I normally would tip 3 or 4 dollars. Now the POS terminal has suggested tips and the lowest suggestion is $5. I heard about this trend recently of making the suggestions more than what people would normally tip. You can of course type in a number but that means clicking an extra button first.

Living in the U.S., I rarely saw a gun. However, now living in south east Asia, I see guns all the time on the police as they patrol various places. Sometimes you might even see officers carrying automatic weapons. This is in addition to the cameras that are EVERYWHERE. The fact of the matter though is that the U.S. has 2 very large borders at the north and south. Securing the border for some reason seems to trigger a lare portion of the population. One of the results of wide open borders is that guns will ALWAYS be an issue. Those with criminal intent will always be able to get them illegally. So, many Americans feel better knowing they can defend themselves from criminals. Banning guns would effectively allow only criminals to be armed. Right or wrong, that is the situation and it's not about the country being crazy.
