Plaid might not always be Flannel but it's so linked as the main pattern people wear of it and that people think of when they hear the word Flannel that most people treat the words as paired if not Synonymous. Certainly rural timber state people and southern country/cowboy people hold Plaid and Flannel as pretty much synonymous and so mainly only make things to wear that are both. Many people will not wear non Plaid Flannel, it's a regional/cultural thing. I think women are more likely to wear non Plaid Flannel and outdoor hipster backpack Hikers too.

Ball caps are all over America and flannel is a staple that never goes away because they are warm, comfortable and go well with jeans. I live in the midwest and it's really cold in winter. On the worst days it can be 20 below zero Fahrenheit with a wind chill dipping into the negative 30 or 40s. Deadly. But the entire winter isn't like that. Average days are 10 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit

1. baseball caps are for guarding your eyes from the sun without impeding your vision with sunglasses. The UK seems to not be as bright and sunny as the USA is, so that may account for the less practical application of baseball caps for you. in the southern US, caps are also used to disguise sweaty hair because it is hot down here. 2. flannel shirts are a sturdy and breathable organic material that will not meld to your skin if it catches fire. very practical for labor. they also keep you warm when layered. they are historically cheaper to make than other durable fabrics because they're made of cotton and cotton was a major US crop when the shirts became a staple. still is in some parts of the country. 3. We spell it Pajamas but pronounce it the exact same as Brits do. We call them PJs or Jammies. Relatively few people do the pajama set trend if they don't have a family with small children or grandchildren. Most childless adults just wear an old tshirt and some underpants or sweatpants, anything that is comfy really. 4. winter socks. gotta keep your feet warm and dry. that priority comes from the military because infections and amputations from soggy feet in wet terrain in past wars caused soldiers to prioritize their foot health and the ideology was brought home to civilians. 5. jeans. everyone has multiple pairs of jeans and it's a default clothing item that can even be acceptable in non-casual occasions. the go-to pants options are jeans and leggings. The major one he didn't cover and should have is cowboy boots. I've never heard of Brits wear cowboy boots as a fashionable wardrobe staple, but they're everywhere here.

Not so much in coastal south Texas!! I have plenty of short pants for daily wear pretty much year round, a few pairs of Levi's and some trousers. I generally have to wear a dress shirt and tie to work but in the summer in a 100+ degree F day at up to 99% humidity when I go home it can be 130+ in my car so it's a damn sauna!! On the other hand normally I can go Christmas carolling in shorts and a Polo shirt so that's cool.

I believe that Old Navy is the "bargain brand" arm of GAP clothing stores. I myself prefer plain jeans - no back pocket or front pocket bling, no flared leg...some people call them "dad" jeans. Thick denim, very durable. I would say his flannel pattern is outdated. Lots of different patterns, and sometimes just solid. Flannel is actually naturally wicking, so it's a good choice for year round use (for natural material). I use flannel sheets year round. Very comfy. And my wintertime blanket is my kilt... a real kilt - just a really long swath of wool. I don't wear baseball caps. Never appealed to me. No PJs. Just available shorts or sweats, shirt and a pair of wool socks.

@@Jeff121456 I’m not sure where you got that idea. The navy blue colored uniforms that you were thinking of are Service dress blues for junior enlisted sailors. They consist of a wool pull over and trousers made of a weave of polyester known as "Certified Navy Twill". Working uniforms bear a camouflage pattern and are primarily composed of a 50/50 nylon and cotton blend. Denim is a very specific weave of fabric consisting of a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This process produces a diagonal ribbing that distinguishes it from cotton duck. The most common denim that you see in blue jeans is indigo denim in which the warp thread is dyed while the weft thread is left white.

James and Millie baseball hats are worn by a lot of American guys all the time because of baseball and sports and also for people my age or younger because of hip hop. Black guys in the hood wear baseball hats and then because of rap music and fashion it spread to young guys in general. I used to match my hat to my shirt and my sneakers when I was younger. I still have a baseball hat addiction and have over 100 different hats. On the east coast, baseball hats are even more of a thing then on the west coast in terms of wearing one all the time. They say that if someone is wearing a dark Yankees hat, a dark Champio n hoodie, and black Air Force Ones, be careful, they are looking to jack someome or kill someone! Here in the Bay Area, the weather in always never too hot or too cold and always changes so flannel shirts are really popular all year round except when it's really hot which is kinda rare. G Eazy dresses like a lot of young Bay Area guys: a flannel shirt, skinny jeans, and a pair of Vans. I like to wear a flannel shirt, light wash or distressed jeans, and a pair of Vans as my standard go-to fit. We just call an outfit a "fit".

I was just about to comment about the Bay Area mostly being at a good temperature for flannel and super hot days being rare. We dress similar. Flannel shirt, light jeans, except for me it can be vans or converse. I also have a hat collection. I didn’t think this was a Bay Area thing but now I’m thinking… 😂

Jeans and baseball caps are absolutely American inventions. We may use Pajamas more but those obviously came to England first through India. Denim Jeans historical link is to the California gold rush and other Westward expansions. I also think at times Brits forget that our largest ethnic group in America is German-American and the region he lives in is in the most German-Polish-Scandinavian part of America (Ohio-Indiana-Michigan-Illinois-Wisconsin-Minnesota-Iowa and probably Western Pennsylvania or "Upper Midwest" or Great Lakes States). Those thick socks for men are actually called boot socks and are meant to be worn with boots in the winter, but they are thick enough to be nice slipper alternatives. This Great Lakes area is where the common American accent comes from probably for you folks the boring accent. The one news casters and TV personalities generally use. Also the area of the Country where heavy industry was based with companies like GM, Ford, Chrysler, Caterpillar. Harley-Davidson, John Deere, and the like came from. I like his stuff because he lives in this region and culturally is very representative of Middle America whereas most foreign youtubers seem to travel to and vlog about the Eastern Sea Board or the Deep South. Florida, California, and Texas are almost like their own countries honestly.

Has anybody noticed that he's not even wearing his own flannel shirt, but it's his wife's or at least a female? Here are five clothing men's flannel shirts would never have that alternate pattern up by the shoulders that's a definite sign that it's a female shirt and if you look at the buttons they're on the wrong side on a men's shirt they button down on the right with the button holes on the left but on a woman's shirt the buttons go down the left and the buttonholes are on the right. Also you'll notice that there are buttons on the pockets you don't see that on men shirts. Definitely his wife's shirt or a female shirt anyways. Take a good look at it again. 🤣

@@glenncordova4027 that's funny. 🤣 However in all truthfulness the rules for buttons work in Europe the same as it does here cuz that's where we got the idea, plus you said that the shirt was bought in the US. I mean I'm an expat and I'm living in Central America and even hear the button deal is the same. I just think it's hilarious also. 🤣

@@glenncordova4027 true, however men don't usually have the alternate plaid panels on the shoulders nor buttons on there pockets.
