Nice edit but I have to argue that fighting spirit goes to Britain because they were all alone for a large part of ww2 and that you knew from Churchills speech that they will never give up. Also British people during the time suffered a huge amount because they had to deal with bombing raids every night for so many years and that people were separated fron their families

How about when Japan was nuked for the first time? They didn't surrender at that time unlike Britain that just had to face air bombings and not to mention that the Japanese crushed the British in Malaya as well as even though the mainland fell, some Japanese territories remained fighting

Japan only suffered hardships over a short period of time, for example it was four days between the first nuke and the second nuke and they eventually surrendered. The british had to fight many more fronts, such as D-Day in France, defending BOTH Australia and India from Japan, as well as protecting Egypt from Italy, as well as taking Syria and many other French colonies in Africa. Although Japan did fight a lot of fronts as well, they met much smaller resistance and battles didnt last very long

Fun little argumentative point Japan's government actually acknowledged that in a one on one war the british empire would have defeated them, until the british became tied into the war with germany By the time japan joined the war however britain had almost completed its rebuilding of the economy and was shortly back to competence where the ever underrated british pacific fleet then began to fight and win against the japanese Even though most of their fleet lay in the med/atlantic/coastal waters
