funny you bring up inbreeding as a stereotype in the US, because thats literally what many people in the US think about britain since they have all that noble history of keeping the bloodlines pure. hapsburgs and all that.

Love your comments. I have to say as someone who grew up in a small town in Tennessee there were cases of people dating cousins. It was hard to avoid that is small rural towns where there eren't a lot of people. In most of America states specifically make it illegal to legally marry anyone closer than a first cousin, but you can usually marry a first cousin once removed or a second cousin. My grandfather and his brother (in teh early 1900s) married twin sisters whose kids became DOUBLE FIRST COUSINS and by virtue of shared identical DNA of teh mothers half sibblings. So yeah, it's a bit of stereotype but it's also somewhat true.
@moorek1967 Жыл бұрын
First cousin once removed is still too close. Kentucky says third cousin or greater. And there is a joke among the Ashkenazi Jews that they marry first cousins as well. It isn't limited. California made it legal to marry first cousins...hmm California made it legal, Kentucky made it not legal...hmmmm.

You betcha in WI too and Dat instead of that. A bar on every corner. When I moved from Wi as a new mother, I was shocked at alcohol restrictions in other states. Now, I've lived in at least 7 different states, and my three kids were born in three different states, and I love that every place is great. My kids live in three different states than we do.. it's a lot of traveling to see family, but I'm glad my kids knew they could be happy anywhere.

Most stereotypes are based in some truth. But not the ones about southern people being incestuous. There are certain things that happen with rural living including rare instances of incest. But this is no more or less common in southern states than northern or western states. All have rural areas.

I think Maine is going to eventually be known for ridiculously consistent low rates of crime: Maine • Violent crime rate: 112.1 per 100,000 people • Total 2018 murders: 24 (7th lowest) • Imprisonment rate: 165 adults per 100,000 (2nd lowest) • Poverty rate: 11.6% (19th lowest) • Most dangerous city: Augusta Between 2017 and 2018, the number of violent crimes - a designation comprised of aggravated assault, robbery, rape, and murder - in Maine fell by 6.8%. There were 112 reported violent crimes in the state in 2018 for every 100,000 people, the least of any state in the country. Maine's capital, Augusta, had the highest violent crime rate of any city in the state at 323.9 incidents per 100,000 people. But even Maine's most dangerous city had less violence than the U.S. as a whole. There were 380.6 violent crimes for every 100,000 people nationwide in 2018.
