Well, the truth is the Colleges created fan interest, there was no Pro football until the 20s and it was not even cared about until the 1960s. The truth is most New Yorker types are not real football fans via the knowledge of the game like Bama, UGA, Tenn. or Oklahoma fans, we start out playing at 5 years old and the women know football, most of those city dwelling football fans really don't know much.

Alabama was arguably the greatest college football program of all time prior to the run of historic dominance they’re currently enjoying and it looks like there’s no end in sight. There’s a documentary that does a pretty good job of explaining why the Alabama football program is so important to the state and region. It has a lot to do with the reconstruction era following the American civil war. I’m sure it’s on KZbin if you’re interested.

My people I live in the American south, Mississippi. Alabama "BAMA" the fans call themselves are a unique group. The fan base has moved all over the place! It's relatively an old idea, people tend to follow winners. Alabama got all three of my son's and made them fans by winning. The rivalries are harsh in the SEC. The "South Eastern Conference" is a bitter conflict. We all hang out together and make fun of each other, it's just cool to do that in the south. 🇺🇸

North Carolina State University built a 120,000 football training center. They got a call from Miami asking if they could tour the facility to get ideas for their planned new one. Their architects would come along and take notes. The coach said "sure....always to help a fellow ACC team", thinking it was college Miami Hurricanes. The man on the other line said "actually we're the Miami Dolphins", a professional NFL team. You know you did things right when an NFL team wants to copy a college building. The place in Raleigh has hot pools, cold pools, underwater treatmills, Olympic quality weight machines, a mini hospital for emergencies during practice, and free healthy fruit and snacks for all the players 24 hours a day.

I graduated from Bama in 1993 (with Dabo Swinney, although we were in different colleges within the university) and I had friends on the team so I saw some of the facilities back then. I thought the guys were spoiled back then but all these newer facilities are amazing. We are the top program in CFB history. While other teams’ fans will say we’ve won 40 or 50 national championships, it’s really only 13 AP/UPI/BCS/CFP recognized championships. We won 4 recognized (I don’t count 1941 like some people) championships before the AP/UPI era began in 1938, and we arguably should have won 3 more during the 1960s and 1970s. We’re OK with just the 13 though because it’s still more than any other program. ROLL TIDE!!!

it Depends on what you are really looking at, as several Sports outlets intertwine Alabama, Oklahoma and Ohio State within the top 3. While Alabama has more "National" titles than others, there are things For instance Oklahoma has that no other team. For instance Oklahoma has the longest consecutive win streak in College Football History, And Oklahoma has the most wins ever since the BCS era, along with producing 7 heisman winners. So as I said, Bama, Ohio state and OU can easily bounce around in the top 3 depending on what stats you are looking at. I am looking forward to getting in to the SEC after this season. College about 6 home games. Most of the players of the team are on full scholarship. Each D1 (Division 1--largest schools) school can offer 85 full-tuition (4 years of college) paid scholarships. Since college is so expensive in the US, that turns out to be alot of $$. Players must maintain a certain grade point level (I don't know what it is now) to remain eligible to play. Players with lower academic aptitude or who have not come from a good high school district and may be behind academically will typically get free tutoring provided to help them maintain their grade point average and thus their eligibility.

They are put in classes favorable to athletes, get special allowances and exemptions, are given tutors, and have others do work for them. There are some exceptional students, but I haven't worked with many of them quite honestly. It's insulting to make the athletics more important than the schooling.

I think this may be the older one as they have newer lockers with TV screens, recliners, etc. You can also look up schools like Oklahoma, Florida, Texas where you can see not just the football facilities but also college baseball, college basketball...gone are the days of a small locker for a baseball player or a row of folding chairs. Everything is high tech & posh. Florida has a "beach" with outdoor pools, basketball courts outdoor for football players, etc. It's a facilities arms race to get recruits. As much as other people complain about football, most schools use football profits to pay for most women's sports, put money into the general scholarship funds for regular students, put money into buildings, and other things that wouldn't be possible without profitable football programs. Just sharing part of why so much goes into college football.

About the question of if you’re a good player but crap with grades: some players will just give up the sport, there’s also ‘junior colleges’ or community colleges that have teams that you don’t have to have the same level of grades to play there. Usually those schools are 2 years so they’ll attend and play for 2 years and then transfer to the division 1 schools then if they’re really good onto the NFL. There’s a really good Netflix show about some of those schools can’t remember the name though

Until just a couple of years ago, college players couldn't get any money. The universities and video game companies could make money using the players pictures but the players got nothing. The NCAA has allowed players to receive money for letting others use their name, image and likeness. The schools don't pay them but they can now get endorsement deals. Olivia Dunne, from LSU gymnastics made $2.7 million. Bijan Robinson, the RB from Texas managed to pick up $1.8 million in endorsements. So, basically, until last year, these facilities were one of the prime perks the schools would use to get kids to come to their school.

The thing that differentiates College Sports Fandom over Professional Fandom is that Colleges don't ever move. They could shutter their doors for good (and many have, believe it or not), but they'll never move locations. So their Fandom will remain loyal for as long as they want to. And there's some sense of community with a College team. With a professional team, they are free to move to different cities whenever they want to. Some fans will follow them, but many consider such a move as a betrayal. Just ask any Raider fan. They've been in Oakland, L.A., and now Vegas.

The colleges themselves may be state owned, but the football programs take "Donations" from people who have played there or just went to the school and have done well in life and want to donate money to make sure the school has everything it needs to succeed. The endowments and trusts that pour money in, plus the actual football program made 216million USD dollars last year in sales (Tickets and merchandise) and made a profit of 18 mil USD after expenses. Most every other school sport loses money, so football basically pays for all the other sports. Donations and trusts pay for the facilities.

Wide Receiver gloves are already pretty tacky. Stickum was outlawed in football in 1981. I've always been a great pass catcher and I only started wearing gloves in my mid 20s. Pro tip: Sitting flat with your legs out in front of you while catching passes will give you better body control and hands when you're mid air. If you're not aware of what your hands are doing when you're mid air it's a great way to get a jammed finger. Point your palms towards the football and keep your hands loose 👐

Alabama loses 20-25% of their roster every year to graduation or more likely players running out of their 5 years of college eligibility. Alabama fan here. Alabama has been the most successful college football program over the last decade and has been able to reinvest in their facilities. Not every college program have on this same level. If fact most don't. The major programs may have something on par as they my have major donors supporting the program. Not every college is lucky enough to have these resources there are a lot of small colleges who can only maintain their program by playing other college that they are severely outmatched by in order to receive a payout of 500,000+ dollars. In some case the payouts are over a million. In college up to 85 players receive a free scholarship and room and board to play for the team. Other students can try out for the team as walk-ons but even if they make the team they receive no support from the school, though it is still possible to earn a scholarship later. And per university rules you have to maintain a passing grade to stay in school. A recent change is to allow players to have Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deal to be paid by outside entities The schools aren't legally allowed to pay the players. They didn't show it in this video but they do have a nutritionist at the Alabama facilities. Most college fan bases are regional, where the primary fanbase is local to the schools. Though with television coverage fans can follow some teams from all over the world. College fans are perceived as being more passionate about their teams as the team to support all sports that they university has though football and basketball are generally the most popular sport of most schools.

My Jersey was pretty expensive. So much so in fact I rarely wear it. It’s special to me. I’d like to get fitted for a whole uniform though. Or get a game worn uniform would be like a dream come true. I’ll probably never get it but a dream come true.

Aiden is 💯% right that some colleges that dont have NFL teams in their state get massive attendances but I would put like if you were born into a team in the EPL, usually students of those schools had their parents or close relatives go to that school and have been fans since childhood and continue to be after graduating. Some of these schools get a lot of money from alumni who became famous or really successful and donate money for their sports department and in exchange they get zones or whatever it may be named after them or get more public recognition. In some instances people have more allegiance e for their college team then for their professional team they follow because your college is for life were a NFL franchise might move somewhere else which has happened on many occasions.

Wealthy patrons often donate use of their private jets and helicopters for coaches to go recruiting. "We've got to get to Player X before Notre Dame does" and they hop on a jet and get there in mere minutes. I know a coach who landed in small helicopter in the middle of the player's practice game. That makes an impression! of course this gets high tech. People know the tail numbers of the donor's Gulfstream and track on the internet (FAA) what cities the plane lands in....Tuscaloosa....they must be going after Jimbo Jones....we better get there tomorrow". One coach aware of this had them do a touchdown in one city when his recruiting intent was down the road for another player. He landed and drove to the real target.

You mentioned the name Jason Bell so I decided to look him up. I discovered that he works with one of your countrymen, Osi Umenyiora. I then researched Mr. Umenyiora and discovered that he also played in the State of Alabama for what was at the time known as the Troy State Trojans, now known as the Troy Trojans--just a bit of trivia that i thought you may, or may not, find interesting. My father graduated from the University of Alabama in 1950 and I am a native and current resident of the State of Alabama, so, cheers Mates, and y'all come see us!

It is a German brand and the way they pronounce it is correct. I just found this out about 8 years ago. However, most Europeans pronounce Nike incorrectly. Daz is one of the exceptions. They say Nike like bike 🥺

The maximum amount of games a team can play is 15, but not all teams are eligible to play that many...half the teams only get to play 12 games, not enough regular season wins to qualify for a bowl game...many teams will play 13 games , some 14, etc... and some teams that play in their conference championship games can also play up to two additional CFP games to reach 15 games total for teams making it to the CFP Final...
