1978 was exactly the year i met Angus, Bon & the boys!!! living in the south SF Bay Area, a friend in my apt complex called me and said AC/DC was in town after their show and they wanted a nice quantity of coke, at least 1/4 lb... my friend (who had also introduced me to the legendary Bo Diddley, a lifelong friendship until Elias's passing, i always had Bo's home # no matter where he'd moved to) brought me to the house they were staying in Cupertino and found myself face to face w/AC/DC (well, in the case of Bon Scott, more like his face to my navel, he was really freaking short, and i'm 6'4" = 1.94 m) although i only came up w/2 oz's, they were still quite glad to see me, hung out w/them about 1/2 hr then we split! oh, thumbs up of course #391

He loved a scrap! Brilliant demo on guitar mate! Really enjoyed this! Cheers Mario! 😀👍🤘

Southside Six, hmmm probably '76 I'm guessing, Angus got down and boogied along the very crowded bar, then spinning around on the dance floor... some clown decides to have a swing at him. The band stopped everyone got down and got into it with this guy, except for Phil who kept the beat going. Then the guitar fires up from nowhere again..Then Bon appears on stage "Sorry some idiot wanted to wipe some blood off his shoe on Angus's face", band resumes, never missed a beat. They always gave 1000%

@Goosecore 19 August, 1978, supporting Blackmore's Rainbow. Boy Richie Blackmore might have regretted having them as support. I saw both bands and Rainbow, despite the presence of Dio on vocals were pretty boring by comparison. Accadacca as we call 'em here in Oz just brought intensity to a higher level. First time we saw them in the early days we laughed at them. A year later we were flocking to their gigs, they just worked so damn hard

To me, any discussion of Angus' technique begins and ends with that vibrato of his. Such a great sound that few other guitarists have captured. The only 2 examples of similar vibrato I can think of are Paul Kossoff, and early Clapton (it's all over the Blues Breaker LP, and such Cream tunes as Spoonful, and Sunshine Of Your Love). Unfortunately Slowhand seems to have lost that vibrato along the way, going for a more generic, less inspiring wobble.

Sometimes it seems all you hear is "up" "down" Good to throw "now bounce" in. I mention a top band from the same era, a band where the drummer and lead are hooked solid. That would be Alex and Eddie Van Halen (or course from the band "Van Halen"). I believe time will move Alex Van Halen up the charts in a "best rock drummer" analysis. Thanks Fil.

But you nailed it spot on again Fil! It's all about Angus and his expressiveness. You could replace Angus with Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, or Joe Satriani, and it just wouldn't work! Great analysis Fil! Angus and Malcolm (RIP) Young built the AC/DC guitar sound. At full tilt, AC/DC are untouchable. Just on a point of Angus' playing technique. I read that Angus has small sized hands and so whatever he plays is where he can get his left hand/fingers to on the fretboard. Does Angus' style of playing - chord sequences and lead lines, show up this "limitation" in how far his fingers can reach and his hand can spread? Any thoughts on this Fil? Thanks again. Stay safe and well.
