Ooh Alamat, what I really like about them is they use ethnic and pre-colonial elements from different tribes of the Philippines. It shows in the song’s themes and choreography. The members are also very diverse themselves.

If you want a summer bop, "Dayang" (Princess) is the sequel to Maharani! Both Maharani, Lakambini, and Dayang are titles given to court ladies and wives or daughters of rulers back before precolonial times. ALAMAT's whole concept is about Philippine identity, and they use folkdance in their choreo, Filipino mythical creatures or historical references in their song lyrics. There are traditional gongs and instruments in the music production. They use elements of traditional attire. They use up to 7 different languages in a single song sometimes!!! If you want a chorus you can sing along to though, Day & Night and Say U Love Me are both partially in English. And they are an amazing vocal showcase. They have some ballads like Sa Panaginip Na Lang (Only in Dreams) is a gut-wrenching painful song that sound even better live. I recommend that if you watch Dayang, maybe just go look at their recording session vlog to hear it raw. It is INSANE. And for historical references, Kasmala MV is about the discrimination faced by Filipino immigrants to the US, including indigenous people being placed in a human zoo in the 1904 St. Louis World Fair. They undeniably have THEE best PPop discography. Even their debut song kbye is written by the members.

Welcome to the Alamat fandom, what's hard is recommending another one of their songs...because they explore a lot of genres but they are mostly RnB hip-hop. I recommend Dayang next! Then Gayuma and Walang Hanggan. Alamat is a PPop group which focuses on Filipino culture, themes and aesthetics. Want to blow your mind? I also suggest Ily Ily. Showcases their vocals and rapping skills, no dance but be prepared for changing one genre to another.

Alamat is a great group!! I just recently discovered them because of BINI too. What’s great is how they incorporate traditional Filipino culture in their music. Their choreography in Maharani actually incorporates traditional Filipino dances. It’s called Singkil, which is a courtship dance in the southern Philippines. Oh, you found Alamat...they're wonderful. One of my favourite songs is Walang Hanggan. It also has a marvellous video, with a deep story, full of symbolism. And you will be able to identify each member and their voice, because the name of who is singing is in the subtitles. Another top choice would be Dayang for their superb vocals. The acoustic version is also heavenly.

"Alamat" means "legend" and they are trying to live up to the name. They are fellows who hail from different provinces in the Philippines who speak different languages and dialects proving that in music and friendship there is cohesiveness, unity, and can produce excellent outputs. I love what the producer said while recording Dayang, since it's a dance song with insane high notes and riffs. He said something along the lines of "Good luck dancing to that!" But they do dance to it and the choreography is insane too. Incredible!

Underrated if we think of virality. They have a different trajectory. If you notice, their numbers are consistently going up. Slower but increasing. Spotify monthly listeners took longer to go up, but now at 1.4M. They are the 3rd highest among PPop group.
