The three-point shot was added to the NBA in 1979-80 (I think). There was another league called the ABA that also existed and they came up with it first. But the NBA merged with the ABA, and that’s why we have teams such as the Nuggets and the Spurs today.
@SanFranFan304 жыл бұрын
The ABA had it since they started in 1967 I believe, and it wasn't officially/universally added to the NCAA until 1986.

For the 1967 76ers: the team had a prime wilt chamberlain playing better basketball than his 50ppg season, 3 future hall of famers (hal greer, Billy Cunningham, chet walker) and a great team around them. That team was way better than the celtics they just struggled with timing and making it worked, but when they figured it out they absolutely destroyed everyone.

And I'll just say it. It's also because he is Chinese. The NBA was really making a strong effort to promote the sport in China at the time because it is such a big market and had a growing interest in basketball. They actually changed the rules after him so that making the All Star team is no longer solely voted on by fans. That's the real reason he made the All Star team in all nine years of his career when really he probably only should have made about four or five All Stars. Don't get me wrong, Yao was a really good player, but not even close to good enough to be a first ballot hall of famer without that factor.
@bluesyblues20544 жыл бұрын
Check out Scottie Pippen: Ultimate Defender. Something quite unique. An excellent defender in the 1990s, where the NBA is much more physical, and the team mate which could arguably be the reason why Michael Jordan got his 6 championships.

For the 1967 Sixers to be taken instead of the 60's Celtics squad (and even the Bulls tho, the event took place in 97 so it was the season after their winning record), it's because they were so dominant in one single year that it marked the minds of everybody. They played around Wilt Chamberlain that was averaging 24 points, 24 rebounds and 8 assists PER GAME which is one of the most ridiculous seasons ever, even considering Wilt absurd numbers, since he was top 5 in the league in nearly every single category, and was the league leading passer and rebounder, as well as fg%, win shares, and litteraly too much other things to quote everything. Shit is unreal, that's pretty much why we nearly never include Wilt Chamberlain in record discussions, its scary

Cumulitive NBA stats don't impress me since LeBron played almost double the playoff game due to in thr 80's and early 90's the first round was a best of 3 and LeBron pkayed in a weaker conference and therefor had nearly double the playoff games and Jordan holds so many playoff record that it would make your head spin.

You're paying attention I see. You were right, Draymond Green is no longer the all time winning percentage leader after going 10-33 in games he played this season which dragged his numbers down a bit. It turns out playing without Klay Thompson is hard. The 5 games Curry appeared in this year even he went 1-4

the reason the '67 Sixers won the "Greatest Team of All Time" is because it's the only time Chamberlain won a title during his Prime (he would win post prime with the Lakers too). Prime Chamberlain is considered the most dominant (if not "best") player of all time. Celtics had a superior team with multiple hall of famers including Bill Russell who was Chamberlains rival but also several other legends. However Celtics winning so many championships hurts them because it's hard to decide which is the best team out of 11 championship teams. Meanwhile for the most dominant player of all time there is only 1 time when his team around him was good enough to be better than that decade long dominant Celtics team and thus how they could win that poll. If the 1 time the Celtics lost it was to a team without prime Chamberlain it would be looked at differently the difference is Sixers having Prime Chamberlain who like I said is considered the most dominant player ever even over Jordan.

since you're so interested in Westbrook (as you should be) you should watch Best plays from his MVP season
@LockeDemosthenes24 жыл бұрын
It's ALMOST like Westbrook cares more about stacking his individual stats than actually winning or something. 🤔 Also, the Lebron scoring record in the Playoffs record is misleading because the Playoffs use to be significantly shorter. The playoffs used to be only three rounds instead of 4, and the first round used to be a best of 5 instead of 7, and even a best of 3 back in the day.
@SanFranFan304 жыл бұрын
The main reason Yao Ming made it into the Hall of Fame so quick wasn't because of his talent, it was because his career was cut short by injuries.
