This was really enjoyable to watch, as in my limited time watching American Football I have never seen a Quarterback with the technique of Lamar Jackson. He is such an interesting and exciting player and for me seems to break the mould of a traditional player in this position. What do you think about him as a player? How does he rate when compared to other Quarterbacks in the league right now?

Lamar is special, one of the most electric players in the league. He won a Heisman at Louisville (has amazing college highlights as well). Generally people don't want QB's to run because it is a premium position and they don't want the players to get hurt. But Lamar has a very silky way of running where he never really takes big hits, which is why he is more successful at running for a QB (or any position really). Also has legit 4.3 speed and crazy juke moves.
@mertsalih2 жыл бұрын
Yes electric and silky are great ways to describe (for me based on this video anyway). HIs movement is so impressive for a Quarterback.

His coaches have actually said that he's even safer when he's on the move outside the pocket. Lamar has taken really good care of his body this year to protect himself and make it through the season healthy. Might be another MVP year too!

Lamar jackson is legit just a combo of mahomes and hill, because even though he’s a qb he is one of the fastest people in the nfl. And a person that Lamar plays like would be Michael Vick
@jasonmistretta42952 жыл бұрын
The original version of Lamar Jackson was Michael Vick. Michael Vick was the role model for this style of quarterbacking. Before Vick, quarterbacks mostly stayed "in the pocket" (the half circle area that is often created by the offensive lineman stopping the initial defensive lineman rush), but Vick would scramble "out of the pocket" giving himself room and more vision to see the field. You watched Patrick Mahomes do this a lot to create space. Michael Vick was pretty much the guy that perfected that tactic and if all else failed he had the speed of Tyreek Hill to out run the defense. He was very dangerous. Sadly Vick had a lot of legal problems (he ran illegal dog fighting rings for Betting) which led to his early exit from the NFL or he probably would have been in the NFL Hall of Fame.

When he was getting drafted in the NFL, teams wanted him to play another position like wide receiver or running back but he was determined to be a qb. So he was the fifth qb taken in the draft. If you watch his first game he threw for about 300 yards and they scored over 40 points, and the first thing he said after the game was “not bad for a running back.” 😂 This guy is special!
@ianowens19052 жыл бұрын
He never played another position, he was always told to play running back, but he never listened. People didn't believe he could be an effective passer, but with his time at the Ravens, he's proven them wrong. I just wish he had some more weapons on the feild, and then the Ravens may actually be serious Superbowl contenders.

Two-part Video suggestion here Mert, love the channel as an avid American fan seeing others share in the joy of the sport. Jackson has stated in press conferences and interviews before that Michael Vick was his inspiration growing up as a football player. So a Michael Vick highlight reel reaction would combine well with the NFL Generations: "Lamar Jackson & Michael Vick Are Athletic FREAKS" interview that Vick gave to Jackson roughly 1-2 years back, where they exchange compliments and look over film of each other together and share experiences.

The game of football has changed a lot since it’s inception. Quarterbacks today are reliant on their throwing ability but in the early days, the forward pass uses to be illegal. Teams could only rely on running, including running quarterbacks. A lot of college teams like Army and Navy run an option style offense similar to the Ravens and Lamar. In many of their games, they don’t attempt a single pass.

Athletic and skilled players like Lamar Jackson typically get moved. You might have been a quarterback in high school but in college they may need you to play receiver or defensive back. In college, if you're a quarterback, NFL scouts might want you at running back. Obviously the player can say no, but if you're being scouted to play one position and don't want to play it, you won't play at all. So most will be okay with switching. Lamar is one of the few that remained a quarterback despite having a skillset of a Tyreek Hill. It also helps he can throw 60 yards and been able to find receivers down field. He's not the passer Michael Vick or Randall Cunningham we're but as a playmaker he's easily their equal, if not superior.

The problem with QB's that scramble is they don't have long careers. They want to run and juke like a RB, but RB's have the shortest average years(4) in a career. They get beat up a lot and scrambling QB's get hit a lot also. Unless he's that 1 in a billion that can survive all those hits and still have a long career, I don't see him lasting more than 12-14 years unless he transitions to more of a pocket passer.

Lamar Jackson is not a traditional QB. His best quality is his athleticism and running ability, but running quarterbacks don’t last very long because they take more hits and that increases the chance of an injury which is inevitable in the NFL. Lamar has gotten hurt multiple times and it keeps his team from long term success once he gets to the postseason. He is the reason the Ravens win, but he is also the reason they lose, because running QBs don’t achieve comebacks well. His throwing is fine, but it’s average or below average for NFL standards.
