Context for each goal 0:15 Pretty much a series clincher for the Avalanche and a hat trick for Mackinnon that sent them to the Western Conference Finals where they won and eventually won the championship 0:55 Auston Matthews’ 60th goal of the year, something that almost nobody does, and the first Maple Leaf (One of the most storied franchises) ever to get 60 goals in a season 1:27 A goal with 5 seconds left that sent the Avalanche (again) to the Western Conference finals where they won but they would come up short in the Finals 2:02 The Ot winner in a game where the Sharks came back from down by 3 with 10 minutes left to win the series 2:31 Another OT winner versus the Capitals biggest rivals to send them to the Conference Finals 3:26 An OT winner versus rivals to send the Rangers to the 2nd round of the playoffs in game 7 3:45 Tied the Stanley Cup Finals series in OT, and a huge goal because the Blues won in 7 games 4:09 Just a regular season goal but a game winner and a crazy goal by Rick Nash none the less 4:32 A game 7 game winner to send the Flames to the 2nd round 4:56 A Stanley Cup Winning goal in front of the home crowd in 2OT, probably the biggest goal on here 5:25 A game tying goal that the Islanders would eventually win in OT to win their first playoff series in 23 years 6:04 A series winner in game 7 that sent the Stars to the Western Conference Final but they would lose in the Stanley Cup Final 6:36 The series clinching goal for the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals 6:56 A goal that put the Canadiens up 2-0 early in an important game 3 that got the crowd hype 7:21 An OT winner that sent the series to game 7 after the Islanders lost by 8 the game before, but the Islanders would lose Game 7 7:56 A crazy ankle breaker goal that got the crowd hyped for game 2 of the first round 8:18 A 4 on 4 goal that gave the Leafs a 3-2 lead in the game and series but unfortunately they lost the series 8:39 An OT winner that got the wild back into the series after being down in the series 2-0 9:08 A series winner in 2OT that sent the Penguins to the Cup finals where they would win the championship 9:35 A game 7 OT series winner for the Canucks 10:13 A big goal that put the Rangers up by 2 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals 10:34 A game 7 OT series winner in round 1 for the Wild 10:54 An OT winner that tied the series for the Blue Jackets who were in pursuit of their first playoff series win ever 11:18 An OT winner that won the Blackhawks the Stanley Cup vs my Flyers, again one of the biggest goals on here 11:26 Sidney Crosby’s first goal back from an injury 11:42 An OT winner that put the Rangers up 3-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals and pretty much ended the series

Thank you, explained beautifully! I was hoping someone could explain why these goals would give hockey fans goosebumps, that they're not just "regular" goals. A lot of them (if not all) are crucial playoff goals. Without context I don't think Mert could understand that.

Actually the first goal looked like it would put the series away, but instead the blues came back and won that game in over time. The later avalanche vs blues goal is the actual series winner. I think the reason the first goal gave the video op goosebumps is because the blues has had an excellent comeback and it looked like Mackinnon had simply decided that it wasn't enough with that hell of a goal after the Blues had caught up

Just a little extra info: You were wondering if the atmosphere is always like this with the fans and the celebrations, or if these were just important/playoff games. Well, an NHL team plays 82 games in one season (Edit: not including playoffs). I went to a Carolina Hurricanes game on a Thursday night in the middle of the season against a non-conference team and the arena was packed. It was just as loud as a Saturday night game against a rival team. The energy is always there. It's easily my favorite sport.

The Crosby goal at 11:27 is after he missed a year and a half due to a concussion. People feared he would not be the same player he had been prior to the injury but he came out and scored 2 goals and had 2 assists reaffirming he was still arguably the best player at the time.

Most of these are playoff game- or series-winning goals. The NHL playoffs are four rounds, each round a best-of-7 series. And there's no shootout in the playoffs; you keep playing overtime periods until somebody scores, even if it takes four or five OT periods. Game 7 OT is especially intense, because the next goal ends the season for somebody. I haven't been to many NHL games, and no playoff games, but I got to go to the 2007 NCAA hockey championship, in which my school scored the game-winning goal with 0:19 left on the clock. I could barely speak for three days afterward.

I've been fortunate enough to go to a couple of Calgary Flames playoff wins....let me tell you, the old Saddledome is a wild place to be in the playoffs. Win or lose, you can't hear someone talking right beside you and the next day it feels like you were at a metal concert. And the unique thing about Calgary specifically is that the fans call themselves the "C of Red" due to the fact that nearly every fan in the building is rocking a Flames jersey. Sports playoffs are all awesome, but hockey playoffs are something special.

Truly, hockey players have dedication and love of playing with that air of almost disrespectful respect for hockey and each other, mostly. Their fans are undyingly loyal and invested in their team & games, the crowd reaction in these highlights is a bit more raucous because these are play off games . I dated a player on the Pittsburgh Penguins squad (first line player even!) for a couple years back during their Stanley Cup winning run , I will not name drop, but he lead me to attending my very first game at the arena. Absolute sensory overload, an atmosphere unlike any other I had ever experienced, the energy of millions of the happenings all around you, trying to follow the puck while cheering/reacting and hopping around like a child on Christmas morning , so electric and frenetic to not be completely absorbed to the point of forgetting anything else exists. i was buried by that in the best way. Also I was somewhat overcome the realization that I hadn't felt the pure childlike exuberance and wonder that sadly stays with childhood .Everything especially the palpable and heartwarming sense of genuine Camaraderie with the fans. You should trek from the east to Canada or the US for the experience, during playoffs if possible. :) I think you'd more than enjoy it :)

I'm a Detroit fan, since the 80s, but i've visited about 20 NHL arenas in my life for games. When it's a division game, or just a packed house, the games are electric with a great atmosphere. One of the loudest I ever went to, to my shock, was a game in Nasvhille, Tennessee. I wasn't expecting much from a home crowd in the South, but it felt like a playoff game in the middle of the season, it was insane and a blast, fans were so into it all game.

I think most of these goals are in playoff scenarios, so the energy in the Arena is extra intense. Also, being an Ottawa fan, seeing that Kunitz goal again was painful.

Fellow Sens fan here. While that goal will never stop hurting, we can start properly healing from it when it isn’t our last playoff memory. Hopefully next year. Also, the day after that game was the mentally hardest shift I’ve worked. I’ve worked after finding out that a friend died, after losing long time pets, during and after relationships fell apart. But I’m a bit of a social vampire; if life is tough on my end but everyone else around me is in a good mood I’ll be fine. The day after that game the whole city just felt wrong, and everyone was at least a bit sad. Even though I was fine coming in to that shift (definitely better than any of the other days mentioned above), I kind of just absorbed everyone else’s sorrow.

I've been to dozens and dozens of live NHL games. Regular season atmosphere is usually pretty quiet until the home team scores. That will last for about 30 seconds and then you can hear a pin drop. When I was growing up, I never really paid much attention to hockey. I would watch a game on TV every now and then, but I didn't follow it or have a favourite team. Years later, I was living in Ottawa and got the opportunity to go to an NHL game in person for the first time, to see the Ottawa Senators in their last game of the season. Now, the Sens were an expansion team and had only been around for about four years or so at this point, and had been stuck in last place the entire time. However, things changed for the 96-97 season. For the first time in modern history, the Sens had a chance to go to the playoffs. But to do so, they *had* to win the last game of the season. The one I was at. To say that the atmosphere was electric is a gross understatement. I've never experienced anything like it. With the score tied at zero and about four minutes left in the game, Steve Duchesne scored. It was so loud that it apparently set off the seismic detectors at the university some 25 km away. Suddenly I was a hockey fan and had a favourite team. The goal: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZrNgHSDpb95h6M

In the 2018-2019 season, the St. Louis Blues went from worst to first. In the middle of the season, they fired and replaced their coach and brought up a new goalie from the minors. During the finals with Boston, when the Blues were away, the stadium would have a "watch party". We went to 2. During the 7th and final game in Boston, both the Enterprise Center AND Busch Stadium (MLB Cardinals stadium) had watch parties. No city had ever done that before and it was ELECTRIC! We were in Busch Stadium, in the rain, watching them win their first Stanley Cup. It was insane! People from Busch walked up to Enterprise and vice versa, high-fiving, hollering and whistling, fist bumping. The fountains ran blue in towns miles away in Illinois. There are videos on YT of the Busch Stadium experience including the 3 minute walk up to Enterprise Center (home ice).

If team wearing coloured jersey, it is the home areana, so that alters the fan reactions, if their team looses or wins. Hearing damage can occur at prolonged exposure (1 hour) at 60 decibels and immediate at 120 decibels. They measure it during playoffs - the game I was at, 80 decibels during game (3 hours), and 112 when a goal was scored! Was wild and worth the hearing loss! Additionally, the shape of areana and seats, being on the ice actually has a percussive effect on the players. The sound of a goal reverberates through their chests! They can't hear whistles, yelling...is pure madness.

A little context my friend: Hockey is played over an 82 games season. You will rarely see such huge reactions from a season game. The real magic happens in the playoffs. The atmosphere is a lot more tense, the game is faster, tougher, and every single goal is huge. You know how in soccer and most other team sports, a team can get lucky in a single game and beat a better team on a particular day? There is no such thing in hockey as you have to beat the same team 4 times in a best of 7 series to go to the next round. And you have to do that 4 times (beat 4 different teams) to win the ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup. It's crazy.

So, to win the Stanley Cup, a team has to win 4 series, all of them best of seven. And no tied games allowed, all go to overtime, and STAY in full teams, overtime. Probably the hardest trophy to win, and one of, if not the, oldest trophies as well (over 100 years)

I saw the Calgary Flames win a playoff series at home against the Detroit Red Wings, game 6. Flames win 1 - 0 in overtime. Loudest, most electric building I've ever been in. Actually painfully loud in the ear canal for brief periods. Just off the crowd screaming in that enclosed space. If you ever find yourself in Calgary... Flames Ticket and a Pint on me.

You’ve got to understand about the Kuznetsov goal… the Caps had a history of getting knocked out of the playoffs by the Pens. When the guy said “The demons have been exorcized!” that’s what he was talking about. The got past the Pens and went on to win the Cup. I’m getting choked up remembering it. Winning that game was -almost- better than winning the Cup. Almost.

To answer your question, being there during a playoff game is absolutely bonkers. I was there for game 7 where Alex Burrows fired that shot with to win in overtime shown at 9:35 of the video. For some extra context, Vancouver was up 3-0 in their best of 7 games series against Chicago, a team who had thoroughly dominated the Canucks the previous two years in the playoffs when they met. The Canucks went from in firm control of that series to playing a 7th game and that goal was in overtime to boot. A few minutes prior, the same player who scored to win had taken a penalty and Vancouver fans were collectively clenching their ass cheeks lol. As you saw, the Canucks won and there is an iconic call of that goal. If you want to listen, look for John Shorthouse’s call of the goal, that goal is forever known as the “Dragon Slayer.” When that goal went in, it’s just an expression but the roof came off the building. We were yelling, cheering, and that was probably the happiest I’ve been as a fan of the team. I’ve been to many games but none have ever had the same level of atmosphere as that one did. If you ever can, get to a playoff game..... they are an experience to say the least.

4:57 This was the2014 Stanley cup final. Kings vs Rangers in 2ot. The kings were down 3-0 in a previous series against San Jose in the playoffs. They did what 3 teams before them had done and reverse swept. They are the last team to do it since. That goal by Martinez won them their 2nd Stanley cup.

in the 09-10 season playoffs, the habs first beat the caps, then the penguins. i was at the bell centre for game 7 against the pens, even though it was an away game. arena sold out, game projected on the jumbotron. one big viewing party with the atmosphere of a real playoff game. electric. we won that game and went on to play the flyers, and i got laryngitis and lost my voice for several days lol

It's basically that atmosphere all the time. Watch some of the bigger Flyers games. They have the most off the wall fans. It's great. There's a pic out there of a guy getting choked out for wearing a Devils jersey. You should see them when they win a big game. They suck now but you NEED to watch the 2012 Flyers vs Penguins series. All 6 games. NEED TO!!!

I've been to a few detroit redwings games and I've also been to some Toronto FC matches. Hockey and soccer crowds are very similar in intensity. While soccer crowds are larger, hockey crowds are much more densely contained and indoors. I'll be honest though, soccer crowds are more fun throughout the game with chants and drumming and smoke and all that, but a hockey crowd at explosive moments is like nothing you have ever experienced. Toronto FC fans are awesome to leave the stadium with too.

It's a wrister or wrist-shot. The things on the ice are hats. If a player scores three goals in a game all the fans of that team throw their hats on the ice. The guy signs it and they get them back signed. (You put your name on the inside tag to get it back)

What's important to understand is how the playoffs work. Top 16 teams, 8 in the Eastern Conference, 8 in the West. There are 4 series in each conference, all series throughout the playoffs are best 4 of 7. So in order to win the Stanley Cup, a team has to win 4 straight series. And there are NO shootouts in the playoffs, they keep playing 20 minute periods until somebody scores. (I have watched games that went 3 OT periods!) So ANY OT goal in any series in the playoffs is major. And, of course, if it is the home team scoring the OT goal, you can expect the roof to come off the building, especially if it is in Canada!!

You have to see a game in person. These were all huge goals of course, but you still get those huge roars from the crowd on goals, big hits, etc.. Playoff hockey is the best. Everyone giving 110% every night. Especially first games of first round. You should pick a team (Rangers, lol) and watch some games in the playoffs. Awesome stuff.

I haven’t been to game that had a goal reaction like these. But I did go to 2 Flyers v Capitals game back in the day at USAir arena The Philadelphia fans would come down in 4 or 5 charter buses (coaches I believe you would say) for a couple hours ride down, drinking the whole way. Philadelphia fans are known to be rowdy. I saw an entire section of fans in the arena get kicked out for fighting. Not like that anymore but I think as a British “Football” fan you can relate

There's hockey, and then there's playoff hockey. Best of 7 matches per round, leading to Conference Finals, then the Stanley Cup Finals. Teams do trade shuffles and contract shenanigans to get as stacked as possible, leading to the best hockey ever. Playoffs and the Cup Finals are a religion unto themselves.
